Jul-13-04   siggemannen: I wonder how chessgames pick the Player Of The Day
Jul-30-04   Carballo: Well, for one thing, they've proved prophetic this time. Julen Arizmendi has now become the first Valencian GM. And rightly so: Congratulations!!!

meloncio: <Carballo> Valencian? I thought he was Basque because has a typical name.

Y por cierto, ¿qué tal por Glasgow? :-D

Jul-30-04   Carballo: <meloncio> As a matter of fact, he was born in the United States, of Basque (hence his name) and Cuban descent. But he hails from Valencia. Some years ago, we were in the same club (but, mind you, not in the same league! ;)

Next time in English ...

Dec-25-04   Backward Development: he is one of the co-authors of the new book

Richard Taylor: I was talking to him about the game Topalov-Svidler in the Najdorf (English attack) in which Topalov sacrificed on f3 and so on - neither of us could reconstruct it in the time - he was very nice fellow and his a talk about a game of Topalov's versus Bacrot was interesting. Very thoughtful and helpful.

Benzol: Apparently he pops by and looks at this site every so often (doesn't kibitz though). I enjoyed his lecture and he seems a very personable young man.
