Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-10-04   wall: Maybe 20.Qd3 is better since the queen is not pinned as it is on d2.

What about 21.Kf1 or 21.Nd4 instead of 21.Kh1?

I suppose after 21...Qf2, White continues with 22.Re1 Re3 23.Qd1 Bxd5 since 24.Qxd5 loses to 24...Qxe1 and 24.Bxd5 loses to 24...Rxh3 mate.

Sep-10-04   molinov: Maybe 22. ... a5?.
Jul-10-09   reztap: Garais was a strong local Cleveland player.

DrMAL: White's passive setup is worsened by 16.Rxf4 and slightly more by 20.Qd2

Better was 20. Nd4 Qc5 and 21.a3 or 20.a3 Qc5+ 21.Nd4 with black enjoying about a pawn's worth of positional advantage.

White's best move, 21.Nd4 leads to losing a pawn after 21...Bxd5 22.Bxd5 Qxd5 but white blundered with 22.Kh1 to lose a knight and the game (e.g., 22.Rf1 Qxe2 23.Qf4 Ne5).
