Chessical: This is a sharply and closely fought game. Rosenthal equalizes in a Berlin defence, but in sharp piece Zukertort seizes the initiative and Rosenthal blunders a piece.

<26.c4?!> is careless and the one flaw on an otherwise very well played game by Zukertort. The pawn move untowardly undermines the support of the knight on a4 after <26...Nxf4!> 27.Rxf4 Bxc4 28.Rxc4 Rxc4 29.bxc4 Qxa4. Instead, 26.Bd6 Qf5 27.Qxf5 Bxf5 is equal.

<33...Qe2!> appears to be easier for Black than his chosen continuation which loses a pawn for no compensation; <34.Re1> Qxa2 35.Rxe6 Rxc3 (but not 35...Nxe6? 36.Qd7). The bishop on d7 becomes awkward for Rosenthal to protect and his game deteriorates as a result.

<37....Kh8?> is this a blunder or did Rosenthal believe that he had a mating sacrifice if Zukertort took the bishop? Probably it was the former, but even after <37.Re6> he has no long-term counter play to neutralise Zukertort's passed <a> and <b> pawns.
