Sep-12-08 Bilbao Grand Slam Chess Final (2008)
mrbasso: Anand, the Kitty Cat from Madras.
| | Sep-11-08 Ivanchuk vs Radjabov, 2008
mrbasso: 6...Bc5 7.Nxc6 bxc6 8.e5 Nd5 9.Ne4 is better for white. 7...dxc6 might be stronger, but it's not appealing for Black either. There is only one high level game (>2600 ELO) for 8...Nxd5 in the Databases.
Surely, Ivanchuk found an improvement for white.

| | Sep-11-08 Viswanathan Anand
mrbasso: He should have played a warm up match against a 2650 player like Kasparov did against Hubner and Psakhis.
| | Sep-11-08 Kibitzer's Café
mrbasso: 1. e4 d6 2. d4 Nf6 3. Nc3 g6 4. f4 Bg7 5. Nf3 c5 6. e5 Nfd7 7. Ng5 cxd4 8. e6 Nc5 9. exf7+ Kf8 10. Nce4 h6! is good for Black.

| | Sep-08-08 Keene vs E Fielder, 1964
mrbasso: <ray keene: try looking at 9cxb7+ followd by nc6 for starters> actually 10...Qc7 looks very unclear to me.
Why not 9. Nc4 Qc7 10. Nd5 Bxc2
11. Nxc7 Kxc7 12. cxb7 Bxe4 13. O-O ?

| | Sep-07-08 Anand vs Carlsen, 2008
mrbasso: White is a clear pawn up after 19...Bxf2+.
18...Qd7, threatening Bh3 was of course the correct way to proceed. 18...Rf6 is garbage.
| | Sep-04-08 Carlsen vs Topalov, 2008
mrbasso: Is 15.b4 a computer move? Fritz and Rybka suggest it. GM Ftacnik played 15.Qe2, GM Romanishin 15.Bb1 in the pre-computer era.
| | Sep-04-08 Aronian vs Carlsen, 2008
mrbasso: This game seems here a bit overestimated to me.
Carlsen snapped a pawn, luckily for him Aronian played several second best moves and he won. 29.Ra4 looks like an easy draw for white to me, or did I miss something?

| | Aug-30-08 Nakamura vs J Becerra-Rivero, 2007
mrbasso: <Stonehenge> You might take a look at my analysis above. There is nothing
wrong with 19.Qxg4, however Black is always better.

| | Aug-28-08 Montreal (2008)
mrbasso: He played very risky stuff, then blundered with Bg4.
He should have taken the Bishop on g3 early on. A computer always plays Nh5,Nxg3 when out of book. The open h-file is not dangerous for black. A nice opening to play against 200 ELO higher rated players.
4...Bf5 is an easy draw ...
