| dakgootje: <Do drop in often...> I'll try but I appear to have a habit to be rather inconsistent on how often I am around this site... Can't pinpoint why either really =/ thanks for the warm welcome either way ^^ |

| zanshin: Hey <Trig> Welcome to Premieland! (if only for three months ;-)) Like a lot of people taking the survey, the first thing I did was look up Tenaga Nasional. The stated objective is to see what human players judge to be 'beautiful' checkmates. Here I would substitute 'clever', 'amusing', etc. I took survey D. Some mates were boring long range Queen/Rook mates. Some were subtle Knight mates ... so subtle I did not realize it was mate. Guess which ones won for me ;-) |

| dakgootje: Well, yeah, there were some below 700-ELO mates which lacked any beauty at all, but that was not unexpected. When making a survey you can't be sure everyone filling it in takes it seriously or even considers the problem to a very basic extend or even reads it. Therefore with questionairs, surveys and the like there are some control methods and one of the most-used ones are questions/problems/situations/etc which are very simple and straightforward and which will be answered by everyone about equal(for instance "Snow is purple: True/False"). If a person fills in the form at random without reading the question or whatever is asked for there will be a heavily increased amount of strange answers to those straightforward questions making it subject for investigation on how serious the person was about the survey. Somewhere during the start it was as well noted that cg.com would take the premium membership from anyone away again if they suspected the person wasn't sincere in the survey -- this was probably one of the control measures. |

| HouseOfChess Admin: Dear HouseOfChess members:
My HouseOfChess idea is doomed to failure, and I know it. I am a very strange person and get very depressed about one thing or another. Thank you very much for participating, and I am very sorry for the inconvenience. I would appreciate it if you would be so kind as to delete all <ravel5184>'s and my posts that are HouseOfChess-related. Thank you in advance. |
