I love chess. I've been playing since 1999 AD, and I have now been in two tournaments. The first was the Albany Winter Open of 2003, which I scored badly in (2-3), and the second was the Albany Summer Open of 2003 at RPI, which I won (4-1) in a tie for first in the U1800 section! Performance rating of around 2000!!!! WOOOOOO!!!! I am rated 1715 USCF. I love to play on Gameknot.com. I now live in Hawaii, where there are relatively few tournaments to play in, at least under classical time controls.

pawntificator: Obviously not to difficult since it's Tuesday. Still, it takes a brave man to sac. his queen. Also, subsequent checks could have been given by either rook and the correct one had to be selected.

pawntificator: I read an enlightening anecdote yesterday about this game in <Andre Soltis's> book, Karl Marx Plays Chess. Soltis was relating the trend chessplayers have begun to follow, namely the rude and disrespectful resignation. In counterpoint to that trend he noted this game: ...

pawntificator: I don't think you can count yourself as solving the puzzle if you didn't figure out that you had to promote a pawn. Therefore, I didn't solve the puzzle. It was so easy to solve my way, that I didn't even look at the black pawn promotion. I fail. But sometimes, in endgames, I ...
