Sep-13-08 V Smirnov vs V Dydyshko, 1994
|
eblunt: I think this shows up that the Ra7 was weaker than white thought. Wins Queen for rook, but doesn't start a real attack and gifts a tempo to black. Black shows that the tempo is worth more than white wins on a7.

eblunt: <znprdx> After Qe6 instead of the king recapture Black is Knight for Rook down with absolutely nothing as compensation. That's game over at GM level, not <quite playable> ROFL ! And yes I saw it, both with the re-capture and Qe6. It's about right for a Wednesday IMO.

eblunt: < MostlyAverageJoe: I expected black to play 21...Re5 instead of the obviously losing Qe5?
White would just harvest the rook 22.Qxb2 and cruise to a bit slower victory. > In this line after after 22. xb2 goes 22 ...

eblunt: 22 xc5 seems to win a pawn for nothing. Probably what I'd play OTB to be honest.
