There are few if any players who do not know that Bobby Fischer and Boris Spassky contested one of the most widely followed world title matches in history in Reykjavik, Iceland in 1972. What is not so well known, however, is that they played on one of the finest chess sets ever produced by the famous Staunton craftsmen, John Jaques & Son of London. We as an authorized House of Staunton dealer, now offer a replica of this historically important set. This new Reykjavik II Series is significantly larger and heavier than the original Reykjavik '72 Series. We also have this version in three editions: One ebonized, one rosewood and one ebony. The crowning touch must certainly be that each set comes with four queens, two black and two white. No more upside-down rooks when promoting to a second queen. The sets are perfectly weighted, with the Reykjavik II King being 3 ¾" tall with a 1 ¾" diameter base.
