timhortons: Howard started today saying he listened to a replay of the show yesterday, and felt he was swearing too much on the air. This led Artie and Robin to acknowledge they noticed his cursing streak as well, and Howard insisted he was going to put an end to it. Howard went on to say he lost another game of chess yesterday because he didn’t have much time to play, and that he resorted to lying to Beth on the phone about what he was doing when she called: he told her he was talking to his agent, Don Buchwald, but she “called him out” on the fact that he was really playing chess.

www.howardstern.com

Howard kicked off the show by taking a few calls. One of the first callers asked if Beth ever asks him to stop playing chess, so Howard explained that Beth can ask him to stop anytime. Robin told Howard that it might be a good bit if he ever decided to play the whole staff at once (like grandmasters do at chess exhibitions), but Artie thought that only Jon Hein would give Howard any real competition.

I have to officially say that Beth Ostrosky has become a poor, little rich girl. Here she is pictured with Melissa George and Leven Ramblin, two other Barbie dolls, at the Nicole Miller New York Fashion Week show. One might think that everything is coming up roses for Beth, being able to have the life of a socialite, but, while at this event, she had a couple of not-so-nice things to say to Page Six about her life with Howard Stern. About his chess play:

"He plays chess online on the internet every hour that he's home. I watch him play chess."

Wow, every hour? And she watches him? Holy cow. This is a beautiful, 35-year-old single woman in New York City who could be living it up. But all is not bad:

"I know that when he plays chess I can do things without being annoyed, so I go shopping or take the dog for a long walk."

But she said that he plays every single hour that he's home so that would mean a hell of a lot of shopping and running around with Bianca. The worst thing she said, though, is about the wedding planning...or rather the lack thereof:

"I haven't gotten that far yet. It's in October."

She hasn't gotten that far yet? It's more like Howard hasn't let her plan anything because he has cold feet. I'm starting to think Beth would be better off elsewhere. Howard is definitely jerking her around now. Expect Howard to say tomorrow that Beth was taken out of context.

sallom89: lol, too bad I didn't go through any opening.. maybe I am using my 5 mins well and getting affected a lot less by losses.

for example when I have a bad streak before, I just play aggressive more and more.

timhortons: <sallom> regarding online play i read before nigels short advice that if you had a bad game day pause for a while.

and i observe nakamura that he may have a 25 game streak but as soon as he suffer one loss he log out outomatically. lol.

i achieve my 1300 rating at 1 minute time pool at icc in a single day, that i had almost 10 winning streak, but i could not sustain it, i keep lossing since yesterday and fall down to 900. after my day off in wednesday i think i could pull again to 1200. a lot of icc player had in a day well be 1400 but the next day you well see them having 900 elo at 1 minute time pool and that i understand why.

at playchess.com theres bigger chance of staying afloat in 1300 elo at 1 minute time pool since theres just a lot of player there.i dont know if you got what i mean but at icc you well be paired at 1 time against a 1400 and beat him and the next you well be paired to 900 and you got beatin, that 900 player is around 1400 in his good day.
