Another great legend has left us. Very few of them left and can't think of any who will replace them.

This is very sad indeed. The actors we have today dont hold a candle to the big screen giants! Thanks Paul for all the great entertainment!

There are few people in the movie industry that were a comfort to watch. They feel like they were your friends, whether you knew them or not.Paul Newman was one of those people to me.Another giant has gone away, never to be replaced.

Everyone's time eventually comes, it's what you do while you're here that matters. He made his time matter. RIP

Paul was a very good soul. He not only was a good actor and a good businessman, he really cared about people. He gave so much and asked for very little. He will be missed there;s no doubt about that. Vaya con dios my friend.

One of the very first "grown-up" movies I was allowed to see was "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", around 1970 or so... I was only about 6 or 7 but have been a Newman fan ever since. The man lived a decent and honorable life, and did far more for his fellow man than 99.9% of the current crop of loudmouth bleating liberal do-nothing celebrities do today. He never succumbed to the trashy Hollywood lifestyle, was a faithful husband and he was universally respected. A good man who will be missed.

THOSE BLUE EYES COULD MELT MOST WOMEN.
HEARD ON THE NEWS SOMEONE ASKED HIM WHY YOU STAY WITH ONE WOMAN WHEN YOU CAN HAVE JUST ABOUT ANY WOMAN YOU WANT. HIS COMMENT WAS WHY TAKE HAMBURGER MEAT WHEN I HAVE A FINE STEAK AT HOME
NOW THAT IS LOVE. RIP

Uncool to turn this into a rant against loudmouth Hollywood liberals, show some respect.

Paul Newman was a pretty fair country race driver also. Long before he and Carl Haas got together. He would take his TR-4 and race in SCCA sponsored racing events. He wanted no special treatment, all he wanted to do was race. He later went on to race in events, sponsor cars and in the end own a racing team. He was a good man who loved his wife and family, and in the end that was all that mattered. Good Lord be with you Mr. Newman.

I love how many of you changed your quotes to famous Paul Newman film quotes. I used to confuse Paul Newman to Steve McQueen. I see some similarities in their acting but they're different styles at the same time. Maybe Steve just looked like Paul. I guess that leave Robert Redford now :(

Not a rant. I'm merely making the point that today's celebrity "activists" are almost all talk, where as Newman did it the old-fashioned way - he went out and helped people, without worrying about how much publicity he was getting. That's rare today. My post wasn't meant to be disrespectful, although I can see it could be interpreted that way, so maybe I could have phrased it better.

I am very sad. "His likes will not be seen again." That's not a film quote, but a tribute to a real man, a great actor, husband, father, and humanitarian. "Now, he belongs to the ages," but here and now, we will miss him.

He will always be the blue eyed artist of film's. He is now with a company of other legends. There up above and knowing they made a difference and will carry on forever. You were a true gentle sole and a role model on how to survive in Hollywood. To his wife and family I send my sincere condolences.

Understood, though I imagine there are celebrities that do plenty of good and like you said they're not looking for publicity so we don't hear about it.
