Oil falls to US$92 as financial turmoil spreads

Oil prices fell below US$92 a barrel on Monday in Asia on fears a U.S.-led financial crisis is spreading across the globe, exacerbating an economic slowdown that will cut crude demand.

Where the HELL is the common people's Bailout package. Many of us are trying to decide whether to buy gas to go to work or buy food for our famalies....Bush has not even spoke of fuel prices....but let his Wall Street buddies get in a pinch with their livelyhoods and he comes to the rescue with our money....He's an ASSHOLE

I'm with you, Bob. They've made their fortunes off the backs of the rest of us. I hope the bottom falls out of the oil market so the majority of us can get back to a normal life, and those blood-sucking leeches in the industry with wither away and die.

I agree, when price go up as traded that day, say 2.00 a barrel, it increases immediately at the pump , but now that it has dropped daily - prices are not dropping or are very s l o w to drop at the pump.

If all things were normal we should be paying around $2.25 a gallon at this point!

Something is not right and it is called OIL COMPANIES and there PROFIT hunger

This should have been a wake-up call to all working class Americans. The government is NOT looking out for US; it is NOT conducive to OUR lives; and the money that WE are forced to turn over to Washington is not used for OUR benefit.

The negative outcry concerning the bail-out program was the THE biggest that legislators have ever heard from the American people. Many representatives claimed they'd never seen so many phone calls or letters or emails on one topic.

Did it do any good? Not one bit. That issue was rushed through because Washington knew they couldn't let it sit too long or the anger of the American people would snowball. Still, they didn't listen to us. They never do.

I would think that this incident would have raised the awareness in people that our government is not OUR government.

Good to see you Donna. I agree, but think that as long as we are using gas, they will charge us what the market will bear. We can only cut back so much while still functioning in our daily lives.

I know! the pump price is so quick to go up we had to regulate it here in canada. when the price of the barrel goes down, nobody feels a break at the pump for a week

Definitly some corrupt officials making a LOAD of cash off this one. someone better start investigating

In economics classes i have been told that major collusion is taking place between americas gas companies. They know it's happeneing but the law requires that solid proof is attained such as a recorded conversation between 2 CEOs or something of the like. so nothing is being done. I think before bush all they colluded on was what price to sell at, thereby removing competition and making the consumer way worse off. Now, i think they are colluding on price of the barrel instead of just the pump. By this i mean they are supporting eachother in decisions that drive demand up and supply down thereby raising the price and lining their pockets more effectively.
The entire gas supply line must be re-assessed or else the american people will continue to be gouged. you guys should demand it
- i mean you guys spend huge amounts of money on gas. come together and use that purchasing power. We need a union for average people to be heard by government

maybe if you guys had a union and went to arabia and said look, you guys want to lower the price but OPEC won;t let you? well then guess what, screw opec, how would you like to increase your available barrels per day and become americas main supplier? i bet you would get a wicked deal. that's business

Now that i think about it, the role of the government should be to help the people get cheaper gas prices. they should be the frontline between the consumers and the suppliers. The government has given them the upper hand because that's where they can make money. A fundamental error in your government: The officials receive more incentive to help companies than people. they receive the same amount of salary whether they are doing a good job or not. So on the issue of helping consumers, they are indifferent. Gas companies give them contributions, economic stimulus, and many other advantages. THE GOVERNMENT WORKS FOR YOU! why are they defending gas companies? maybe the first step to solve our gas problems is to solve your government problems at home. Ask yourselves, did the people elect bush, or did the gas companies elect bush?

Good. Let those greedy bastards take a hit for a change. It is blasphemy that the oil companies get tax breaks at all. What do they do to help the country and the people, to deserve a tax break?

EXACTLY. thanks again. you guys are on top of this one.
actions speak louder than words, and Bush's words don;t make much sense so look at his actions. What did they say in the last debate, something like 4 trillion dollars in tax breaks to oil companies since he`s been in power? that's crazy. that's twice as much as the war in iraq is going to cost. Bush must think that money belongs to him. The worst part of it all is, when bush makes a lot of money in an investment, it usually has a negative impact on the american people. How many construction companies and government officials being instated in iraq are pro-bush? that;s because he put them there. the war in iraq had nothing to do with "protecting human rights" it was an investment by bush. apparantly he has a lot invested in your governments defense contractor. So war is a very profitable investment for bush and he doesn't take any of the associated risk. Americans do. He comes on and says a few things about terrorists and then you guys go and make him money. Bush is laughing at you people. He can't believe he got elected twice either
That's like giving your money to someone who runs off and never comes back, but this time they do come back, and you give them your money again! lol
