 Τhe YOUTHiCONS project implies an innovative celebration of youth and image dedicated to the contemporary means of information and communication of young people. Creative information, the experience of creation and the exchange of knowledge are in the foreground of YOUTHiCONS, where Europe's youth discovers that the things uniting us are far more than the ones dividing us. YOUTHiCONS aims at establishing a fixed point of cultural reference in Athens through two-day events that consist of projections, interactive presentations and open discussions performed by representatives of cultural organisations from Greece, Slovenia, Germany, Spain, Italy and young European creators. The first two-day event has taken place at GAZARTE on 28 & 29 January 2006, while the second at BIOS on 25 & 26 February 2006, both prominent cultural venues in downtown Athens. Discussions have taken place concerning the latest developments and the diverse aspects of the young digital world (i.e. films, video artwork, digital projects, interactive media, visual multimedia and gaming products) that form the contemporary identity of Europe's youth. Each night has come to an end with a party for everyone. The project was realised in the framework of the Action 5.1 (Support measures - Youth information) of the YOUTH Programme of the Directorate General for Education & Culture. The Programme's National Agency in Greece is the Hellenic General Secretariat for Youth. |
