While in Nashville I visited the State Archives and look what I found.  Stephen Sanders' land grant in Madison County in 1849.  This would be about when he moved there and got married the first time.  The land grant is Grant # 9550 located in Western District, Book 12, Page 755.  In 1854, he sold the land for $300 to Daniel M. Week and then moved to Arkansas.

This photo copy of the land grant (from a micro film) and a Word file which is easier to read.  I am hoping I can get a copy of the original land grant, but I do not think it will be possible.
