A brand new chessboard design with stepped edges (Roman Ogee style) measuring 21" x 21" with 2 1/8" squares and made of a combination of fine woods including maple and rosewood. This would be suitable for a Staunton pattern set of chesspieces with King base diameter up to 1 7/8". This is a masterpiece of a chessboard and nothing has been missed in the craftsmanship. Here's some pictures (mouse-over) showing the edges:
A great aspect of this chessboard is that given it's a stage for those heirloom chess pieces this board works with quite disparate piece colors and materials as shown here:
Mouse-over the pictures above to remove these chess pieces. These pieces are made of (left to right) ebony, brass, bud rosewood, buffalo bone, red sandal wood.
The inlaid squares are all made of a specially selected dark rosewood. The board height is approximately 1 1/8" and weighs 15lbs.
There is an identical 23" version with 2 3/8" squares which may be viewed here.
