Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-29-04   shr0pshire: Wow, what a skillful game! Dlugy is a great tactioner in this game. Just with the amount of sacrifices in this game against a quality opponent like Alburt speaks for itself.

Also this irregular line of the benko gambit is a fun alternative, that shows that Dlugy not only can play out of the book, but will opt for complicated positions.

  Honza Cervenka: Why not 19.Re1+ Kd8 20.Bxf8 Rxf8 21.Rxb7?
Jan-29-04   Orcinus: Possibly 19 Re1 Kd8 20 Bxf8 Qxd2+ 21 Kxd2 Bc6

  Honza Cervenka: If 19.Re1 Kd8 20.Bxf8 Qxd2+ 21.Kxd2 Bc6, then simply 22.Bxg7 Nbd7 (what else?) 23.Bxh8 Bxb5 24.Nxb5 etc.
Jan-29-04   seoulmama: The pieces are flying in such a manner, that I am getting dizzy (-:
Jan-29-04   TrueFiendish: Hey ShrOpshire--"tactioner"? Do you mean practitioner? Tactician?
Feb-02-04   Orcinus: <Honza> your right. 21... Rxf8 is better. 22 Rxb7...h6 23 R(1)e7...N(8)d7

whatthefat: 12...Qxe5 was a mistake by Black, normal being 12...Qb4. Opening the e-file while so far behind in development was never going to end well!
Jun-02-07   thedoyle: this should be the game of the day sometime.
