Judged: 7 3 2 It's perfectly obvious from the article that swearing at the court is what actually got her held in contempt of court. "When she turned to leave and uttered an expletive, Hall said a bailiff handcuffed her and took her to the judge's chambers". |

Judged: 5 4 4 Two points... one, this is America, not Rome. Here we generally try to respect people's differences, especially when they're as harmless as fashion choice. And two... THIS... IS... AMERICA. It doesn't matter what happens in muslim countries when we're talking about people HERE. We're supposed to be a tolerant nation. You don't just say "Oh, but they behead Americans over there, we have every right to detain Americans who follow the same religion because of it... civil liberties be damned" |

Judged: 6 5 2 Wow, you and "fed up" are RIGHT on! Why is it that people think they can come to America, and we have to adapt to THEM, but the reverse isn't true? These are our laws and customs, if they didn't like them or agree with them, they shouldn't have moved here. |

Judged: 3 2 1 This isn't about a "fashion choice". This is about safety, and respect. Hats can hide weapons. Tolerance works both ways. How about tolerance of our laws and rules?? So tolerance of a "fashion choice" out weighs tolerance of a law or rule?? |

Judged: 6 5 3 America doesn't beat or shoot women who aren't covered. That's the BIGGEST difference. Bailiffs don't make nuns uncover in court as far as I know. On the other hand, if someone asked one to remove her headgear so they could check it, the nun would not be likely to get upset. There is no law anywhere in the country prohibiting head scarves or hats in court, although it used to be (maybe still is?) common policy that men remove their headgear when court is in session, out of respect for the judge, and in the old days, removing the hat when indoors. That judge had better rethink his policies. Forcing a woman to remove clothing for any reason is violation of her civil rights, and in this case, her religious rights as well. I should hope she filed a complaint. I would have. |
