Worst staring contest ever. If you’re watching the countdown to 2009 at home, your viewing options are pretty much the same as they are every year. Ryan Seacrest will be over on ABC hosting Dick Clark’s Primetime New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest and Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest after a short local news break. The Jonas Brothers, Taylor Swift, Lionel Richie, Will.I.Am and The Pussycat Dolls are scheduled to perform. Dick Clark is also credited as the host, but I really hope he limits his on-camera appearances to very few or none at all. I mean, come on, guy. You’re 79! It’s okay to retire. Over on NBC, Carson Daly smugs it up with T.I., Katy Perry, and Elton John scheduled to perform. Both shows start at 10 pm Et. Fox is doing New Year’s Eve Live hosted by Spike Feresten. »
