AdvaMed's goal is to promote national policies that ensure patient access to advanced innovative medical technologies. Insurance coverage plays a critical role in patient access to health care services, and Medicare is the largest insurer in the U.S. providing coverage to more than 44 million Americans. Private insurers often follow Medicare's coverage decisions for treatments and technologies, therefore its impact is far-reaching and widespread.
AdvaMed works with regulators, law, and policy makers to develop payment policies that support the innovation and use of new medical technologies. We work to improve many aspects of Medicare including processes for covering, tracking (coding) and paying for medical devices and diagnostics. AdvaMed only addresses product-specific subjects if a particular matter will establish a precedent for the medical device and diagnostics industry in general.
