Thursday night the Gospel Music Association (GMA) continued a tradition started in 1969 with its 40th Dove Awards. Dubbed the "Biggest Night in Gospel Music," the ceremony recognizing artists' achievements in the Christian music industry was broadcast live on the Gospel Music Channel.

The top winners were Casting Crowns and Brandon Heath with a trio of Doves each. Heath received the Song of the Year with Jason Ingram for "Give Me Your Eyes," along with two more awards for Pop/Contemporary Recorded Song and Male Vocalist. Casting Crowns was declared Group of the Year for the fifth time, and also won for Christmas Album and Short Form Music Video, while Natalie Grant was dubbed top Female Vocalist, her fourth consecutive win in the category.

Based on a true story, The Soloist shows the power of music and friendship. Steve Lopez (Robert Downey Jr.) is a Los Angeles reporter who has lost his passion as a journalist. One day while walking through Skid Row, he notices a homeless man passionately playing a two-stringed violin. He thinks Nathaniel Ayers (Jamie Foxx) might make a good story, but soon discovers there is more to Ayers than he originally thought.

It all comes down to a tilt ... and a really big God.

As I watched Disneynature's Earth, which opened on Earth Day, I was in awe of God's amazing handiwork. I know that's probably not the intention behind the making of this film, but all I could see was evidence of our Creator and how nature cries out praise to Him.
