She was the only Australian television reporter to follow the World Solar Car Race from Darwin to Adelaide in both 2003 and 2005, and was involved in some of the state's biggest stories including the tragic 2005 Eyre Peninsula bushfires and the Asian tsunami disaster.

Emily officially moved into the environment round in 2006 and soon after picked up the title SA Rural Reporter of the Year for her coverage on the state's water and drought crisis. Emily was the first metropolitan journalist to receive the award.

In 2007, Emily relocated to TEN in Sydney to become the network's dedicated environmental correspondent to bring greater focus and attention to this important issue.

Her first major assignment was at the Bali UN Climate Change Conference in December 2007. She has since covered environmental stories on topics ranging from the NSW drought to the release of the much anticipated government-commissioned Garnaut report on the impact of climate change on the Australian economy.
