PdfCompress 5.1.1 (Mac OS X)
What a great product! I regularly create 20+ MB PDF files from photo-heavy Pages documents and have been unable to send them to most of my clients. I can now take those files and run them through this app and poof - they're not under 3 MB!! Just incredible!!! I can't believe I never found this app sooner, its integration with Tiger's PDF Services menu is priceless by itself, and I love having the drop-on-app functionality as well. This is truly a lifesaver, and the license will pay for itself almost immediately as I no longer have to use FedEx to send off proposals. What a gem of an app! Does exactly as advertised, and it's pretty darn quick even on this relatively old iBook G4. [alert admin]

Now Playing [X] iTunes X-Chat Aqua Script 2.5 (Mac OS X)
I had a bit of a problem updating to the latest X-Chat Aqua (0.15.2) and got this message: "Error in timer callback Undefined subroutine &Xchat::EmbedPlugins::nowplaying_2epl::auto_announce called." I just removed all my old plugins and reinstalled them from the X-Chat Aqua disk image and that fixed all of my Applescript errors. This is a GREAT script, i'm thrilled that it works so well and is so easy to customize. The documentation for altering a lot of the settings could be more extensive, but I got the hang of it just sifting thru the code in a text editor. [alert admin]

BootCD 0.6.4 (Mac OS X)
fantastic program, very straight-forward and easy to use. had to use my old Mac running 10.3 to make this CD in order to save the HD on my G5 which was running Tiger. takes a little time to boot up but it's really stable and has helped me recover close to the full amount of the 190 gigs of data I had nearly lost. thanks developers, job well done! xACT 1.3 (Mac OS X)
"no magic number" generally means the file is incomplete. have you checked the MD5 file and run it through verification? [alert admin]

MacFLAC 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)
This is a FLAC encoder/decoder, it is not a player. You may decode FLAC files to WAV or AIFF and listen to them through Quicktime/iTunes/Finder, but you can listen to FLAC directly (as well as SHN -- Shorten -- files) through a program called MacAmp Lite. You can get it at www.macamplite.com -- be sure to download the 1.5 beta, as it includes all necessary plugins. [alert admin]

Epson Stylus Photo 1280 1.5aA (Mac OS X)
guys should actually try something before bashing it. version 1.5aA of this driver for OS X gives us borderless printing and lots of other features missing from the earlier releases, so now is the time to stop your whining and upgrade. [alert admin]

yes. it compresses better and has a lot more options (which fonts to include, level of compression). this program has more than paid for itself - easier & much cheaper to email reasonable PDFs than send FedEx

i think this uses JNI (Java Native Interface?) code, so it is not compatible with Rosetta on Intel Macs. Maybe they'll update this in the future, but I don't think you'll be able to do much about it until they do...
