The Truth of the Matter

E-mail Print PDF

Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all. —John 18:38

Pilate, troubled by his wife's dream and faced with the pressure of the angry Jewish religious leaders, asked Jesus the greatest question ever asked: "What is truth?"

This is the quest of philosophers, scientists, astronomers, and lawyers—to find truth. To many, truth is relative. Truth is whatever suits their purpose. In a growing age of technology and space discoveries we have less answers to life's greatest question: "What is truth?"

Truth is what is true for all people, at all times and in all situations. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He alone is truth.

Pilate, like people today, looked everywhere but to the source for the answer, Jesus Christ. It sounds so simple, but many make it hard. It is as easy as breathing. Just say His name, "Jesus." He is the answer to every need you will ever have and every prayer you will ever pray.

Jesus, You are my truth for this day.
You are the standard of morality and
excellence by which I will live my life.
By Your Spirit, guide me in all truth
today. Amen.
