History demonstrates; one that has a limited future. The "success" of a species is measured by it's ability to survive in it's surroundings, not by how much it can displace. - DrSnugglebunny, on 07/24/2010, -0/+3Good point on the rhinos; their populations had been doing so well before. The northern white rhino is almost certainly extinct in the wild (lost in civil strife in the Congo), and doomed in captivity. It would be severely depressing to lose the whole species.

- novenator, on 07/24/2010, -4/+4FTA - "“In South Africa, the total number of rhinos killed so far this year (124) has surpassed 2009’s total (122). And during the World Cup festivities, seven rhinos were butchered in South Africa’s Kruger National Park. The increase since 2007 is staggering:
2007: 13 rhinos killed
2008: 83 rhinos killed
2009: 122 rhinos killed"
I guess the nature can't compete with the barbarism of mankind in the battle of Kruger (youtube video reference). What kind of a species are we that completely overruns our world, killing off the other major life forms in our greed and ignorance?
