- shroomtime, on 07/24/2010, -3/+96Sounds like somebody is an idiot.
- FactorOf13, on 07/25/2010, -3/+68Maybe I'm just smarter than I think I am, but I don't see how anyone could be confused by this movie. It's all pretty straightforward and everything you need to know is exhaustively explained. If anything, I would have preferred a little less explanation.
- zeeakz, on 07/24/2010, -6/+69Inception is a great movie. Yes, you need a brain to understand the concept.
- diggadigga, on 07/25/2010, -5/+60I'm trying to get my girlfriend to go anal using inception. But I don't have a dream machine so I whisper 'go anal' in her ear when she's sleeping but the other night she was actually awake and then told me to sleep on the couch.
Any other ideas? At this rate i'll be the 40 year old anal virgin. - draiman, on 07/25/2010, -2/+43Anybody with an average I.Q. and the attention span of a gerbil or greater, can understand this movie.
- KarthVader, on 07/25/2010, -3/+21If you don't understand Inception, then you should just relegate yourself to watching movies like Twilight and anything by Uwe Boll.
- quamb, on 07/25/2010, -0/+15After all the Inception articles coming up on Digg I was expecting this film to be crazy confusing. It's not. All the rules are explained again and again, and the actual story is super easy to follow, simple in fact. I was surprised how simple it was actually...
...but once the credits roll, and you start to really think about what reality was what, wow... there are so many different layers and angles you could approach this film from. - killermicrobe, on 07/25/2010, -1/+15all the questions being made in this stupid article are answered in the movie
- omgaCanadian, on 07/25/2010, -5/+18Have you ever thought of why you want to stick your stick up an ass? Think on it for awhile.
- Horvak242, on 07/25/2010, -0/+12She has to think its her idea.
- BannedWagon, on 07/24/2010, -1/+13Still haven't seen it, but looks damn good.
- emmidigger, on 07/24/2010, -1/+11hmm...Yeah same i thought...Idiocy...
- onestream, on 07/25/2010, -0/+9I don't want to be petty, but doesn't only half the population have average I.Q. or better?
- Bob177, on 07/25/2010, -2/+10I understand the plot of the movie, what I don't get is all the critics howling that Inception is the future of cinema, one of the greatest movies of our generation etc. It's a good flick, but no where *near* deserving of the hype it's getting. I remember reading an article before the movie was released that joked about how the fix was in and any critic who dares to criticize the movie will be out of a job.
- ousthouse, on 07/25/2010, -0/+8Yeah, I'm not sure about the clothes, but they were in the exact positions, doing the exact same thing as his other memory.
- EGOvoruhk, on 07/25/2010, -0/+8Yes he was, he was just a different area of limbo. The scene at the beginning of the movie is the same dream city
- jamied83, on 07/24/2010, -2/+9Never thought of it like that...
- beatnikwriter, on 07/25/2010, -4/+11The top will fall. Nolan cuts away before it does. Inception people. Inception.
- greepoman, on 07/25/2010, -0/+7Yeah no kidding, I mean "When you're inside one dream level, what's happening, at the same moment, in the dream level above it? Does its significance vanish? Has it ceased to exist? " ...
Didn't the movie not only show, but also explain exactly what was happening at the same moment in all 3 levels...i.e. time was progressing more slowly further down???
The article did end up making me wonder if I had missed something....just because the questions he had made it seem like he saw a different movie lol. - phyx726, on 07/25/2010, -0/+6YOU'RE NOT GOING DEEP ENOUGH!
- TheRedDarren, on 07/25/2010, -1/+7Anyone notice the children's clothes? Think about it.
- RoseHulmanME, on 07/25/2010, -0/+6So who thinks the top falls in the end, and who thinks it keeps spinning?
- diogo00, on 07/25/2010, -0/+6you have to make her reconcile with her dad
- PrometheusBorn, on 07/25/2010, -1/+7I kind of agree... Nothing about the movie seemed confusing, or for that matter, very deep... I was somewhat expecting more. I was waiting for a bigger question than 'what if he's dreaming the whole thing'. That was such an obvious one from the beginning, it felt like I was missing something with little else materialized other than fancy action sequences.
Maybe I'm missing something, but the rules of engagement weren't all that clear (ie one scene if all you had to do was dream of a bigger gun to fight the dream world baddies, you'd think they could dream something to make the whole ending sequence a lot easier). - Solkre, on 07/25/2010, -0/+5FUUUUU now I have to go back and look.
- RickyK545, on 07/25/2010, -0/+5The car falling into the water brought them back to the primary dream. The stewardess operating the "dream machine" was the one who brought them back to the real world.
- jedinate, on 07/25/2010, -0/+5They are getting my money again today. I'm in the "can't wait for the DVD" camp.
Not to spam you guys (just to save you some ca$h), if anyone is headed to the movies today,
AMC has $1 popcorn and soda coupons on FB.
http://www.facebook.com/amctheatres?v=app_12858386 ... - yuutokun, on 07/25/2010, -4/+9It was still hard to grasp everything at first.
These two guys on YouTube did a great job of breaking it down into simple terms though.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qCVQpcY1au4 - iskin, on 07/25/2010, -0/+4Let her do it to you first. Then go around telling everyone how good it feels to get ***** in the ass. Eventually your girlfriend will want to experience it for herself.
- gozroth, on 07/25/2010, -0/+4well he does work for Entertainment Weekly
- hotshotveggie, on 07/25/2010, -0/+4They had explained beforehand that If you get a kick too early or too late, it won't work. That's why they had to synchronize all of the kicks the second time (van hitting water, elevator being propelled, building blowing up)
- Solkre, on 07/25/2010, -0/+4You never go double limbo!
- daliminator, on 07/25/2010, -0/+4Yes, though only artificially because IQ is adjusted to fit a normal distribution (otherwise, you'd see a discrepancy between average and median).
Also... your point is...? - tigeryak, on 07/25/2010, -1/+5I was confused cause I kept waiting for the part for Batman to show up. The whole movie I was like, Oh they're in another jam? Batman could help them with this one.
But seriously this movie was excellent. - RickyK545, on 07/25/2010, -1/+5Because the lowest level of consciousness is populated by whoever in the shared group had been there before. When Fisher and Saito died in the dream state and were so heavily sedated that they could not wake up, they dropped into the deepest level of consciousness - into Cob and his wife's city.
- Equinoxide, on 07/25/2010, -0/+4Screw you man, screw you..
- lukas1051, on 07/25/2010, -0/+3You see, I think it could work the other way too. My girlfriend didn't want to see it because she was afraid she wouldn't get it; she's pretty smart, but not a genius. I went to see it regardless and I understood it. I'm pretty smart, but I don't think you need to be a genius to get it anyway. It's all explained. I think she would have understood it. Still, I could see it driving dumber audiences off, the sorts who go to see some brainless blockbuster and proclaim it "teh best film evar!!!"
- diggadigga, on 07/25/2010, -0/+3because i'm a butthole aficionado
- milkmage, on 07/25/2010, -0/+3seems like one of those movies that gets better (deeper) everytime you see it .. like the (first) Matrix.
anyone seen it more than once? - mahadiga, on 07/25/2010, -0/+2I've seen the movie. Is it different from hypnotism?
- Herostratus, on 07/25/2010, -0/+2Well I have got to say that I am only occasionally this impressed with a movie. The last time I came out of a theatre feeling like this was when I went to see the Matrix. Even Avatar didn't have that level of effect on me. This is going to end up on my top 25 all time best movies.
On a side note, I had no idea that Fight Club bombed at the BO. I went back and saw it 3 times in the theatre... and then proceeded to watch it over a hundred times since then.
This is another movie I will be watching dozens of times. Just gonna wait for the DVD release on this one. - starf, on 07/25/2010, -0/+2Drainman didn't say 'only'.
- Mship, on 07/25/2010, -0/+2Explosions dont wake you up. Its the fall from the explosions that wake you up. Like when you are dreaming and you are falling in your dream most people usually wake up. I think its because it our mind telling us that we are falling out of the bed.
Did you even watch the movie? - j0phus, on 07/25/2010, -0/+1bend over
- RoseHulmanME, 12 hr 34 min ago, -0/+1Well it briefly wobbled, that doesn't necessarily mean that it fell though. . . And yes, it was originally Mal's totem, but he started using it after she died from what I understand.
- malex, on 07/25/2010, -0/+1I would think any posting of a dozen identical messages on the day of opening a username would be enough to automatically flag the user... but apparently not.
- crichton101, on 07/25/2010, -0/+1@PrometheusBorn
As Cobb explained to Ariadne, you can't change too much and you can't go too big otherwise the dreamer's subconscious picks up on inconsistencies and could realize it's all a dream at which point you've blown your cover. You want the mark to think everything is real. When Ariadne changed too much while Cobb was showing her around the dream world, his subconscious attacked her. And Eames did dream something to make the ending sequence easier, the airshaft tunnel into the enemy base. But it was still populated by Fishers subconscious and there was only so much they could do without blowing the cover. And with Fisher having been trained in dream defense, they had to be extra careful.
@falstaff
The sedative they are under doesn't effect your inner ear, i.e. your sense of balance. when the van went airborne, Arthur, being the dreamer for level 2, and only being 1 level down from the van, felt the weightlessness and that is why level 2 lost. No one on level 3 experienced it because they were all sleeping in level 2, and since there was nothing to affect them when gravity was lost they were just floating, so their inner ear didn't pick up any loss of balance, which is why Arthur had to move them all to the elevator because the original kick wasn't going to work. That is the whole reason for the series of "kicks". The deeper they go the less the are affected by what happens on higher levels. - donkevin, 12 hr 22 min ago, -0/+1Sorry for the double post, but on further thought on the subject, dying in limbo DOES wake you up (see Cobb & Mal & train). I stand by what I said about Fischer and Ariadne waking up because of falling, though.
- kooch888, on 07/25/2010, -1/+2that according to drainman only half the people in the world can understand the movie. thats not very many.
