Club favorite New York Times bestseller Eric Jerome Dickey returns with a sizzling new page-turner about making life plans—and the plans destiny makes for you....
Auto executive Dmytryk and his wife Cora lived the high life in Detroit until the recession landed them both out of work. After a couple of years of living off all they had left, they find themselves with few options and slowly begin to learn the painful lesson that living honestly just does not pay the bills. Then both start to make some choices that this respectable, happily married couple would never have dreamed they would ever have to make. Cora urges Dmytryk to join ruthless Eddie Coyle’s crime ring and do a couple of bank jobs to get them back on their feet, but then she abandons him, disappearing without a trace. Now more determined than ever to get his life back on track, Dmytryk is only one robbery away from having enough money to get out of Eddie’s gang and find Cora. But when the job goes dangerously wrong, he’s forced into seclusion with one of his partners, a dangerous and damaged woman with a plan of her own. Now Dmytryk wonders if he’ll ever find his way back to his old life. Or if he even wants to....

I am a die hard EJD fan and I felt disappointed when I read this book. It was not what I expected at all, after reading it I felt he should of made a sequel to make it better. Could of got it from the library!

VERY GOOD AND INTELECTUAL READ DESPERATE TIMES CALLS FOR DESPERATE MEASURES I JUST HAVE TO SAY I WANTED TO CHOKE THE SHIGGETY OUT OF CORA AT SO MANY TIMES IN THIS BOOK SHE WAS SO GREEDY NOT TO MENTION MATERIALISTIC ETC. THIS IS WHY SO MANY MARRIAGES FAIL BECAUSE THE FIRST SIGN OF STRUGGLE IN THEIR MARRIAGE AND SHES READY TO BOUNCE WE ALL HAVE TO GO THROUGH SOMETHING OR START AT THE BOTTOM AND WORK OUR WAY UP SHE DIDNT DESERVE DYMYTRYK HE WAS A GOOD MAN SMART .AGAIN THE WRITING WAS EXCELLENT GREAT READ

This book was not at all what I expected from Mr. Dickey. While it was very poetically written, the title, cover, and description did not coinside with the content. It was too abstract.

I was shocked to see some of the comments but all those who didnt like the book all said it was confusing. One thing I will say about EJD is his books tend to be deeper than most of the superficial stuff out there. This book was excellent and took the phrase "Desperate times calls for desperate measures" to a whole other level. Good job EJD and to the readers who were confused...take your time and read it for the intellectual conversation that it is. Oh and can't wait for the Gideon series to come back...

I'm a big fan of EJD also and reading most comments I started to get nervous. But I ordered it and I must say it was great. :) I read it in 2days flat, even woke up just to get another chapter in. I would say go for and pick it up. Looking forward to a sequel.
