Heavier books will incur the standard shipping fees and may be subject to an additional surcharge. The surcharge varies depending on the weight of the book, and will be noted during checkout in the Shipping & Handling subtotal of your order.

Large Items

Amazon.com offers a number of large and over-sized items that require special handling. If an item requires special handling, you'll see a note on the product detail page indicating that the item will ship separately from other items in your order due to the special handling required. Keep in mind that some items too big to ship to a P.O. box must be shipped to a street address.

These items must ship with one of our specialty shippers, such as ABF, CEVA, Home Direct, or Pilot. The shipping charges for these items are either indicated on their product detail pages or will be calculated for you at the last step of the purchase process before you place your order.

When items shipped via our specialty carriers arrive at the local hub in your area, a representative from that facility will contact you by telephone to arrange a convenient time for delivery using the telephone number listed on your account . You can expect the shipper to contact you within 7 business days of the ship date to make an appointment for delivery. The delivery service you will receive is called a "threshold delivery;" the agent will bring the item through the front door of the building (either front door of a house or garage, or front door of apartment building). You'll be responsible for any assembly and/or installation. An adult signature will be required at the time of delivery.

Many large and over-sized items will be marked as eligible for Prime on product pages, and Prime members will see FREE Standard Shipping at checkout. Learn more

Most Televisions 46'' or Larger

In general, TVs 46 inches or larger are shipped with free enhanced delivery through one of our specialty shippers: CEVA, Pilot, or Home Direct. Please refer to the product page for the shipping method of each specific model TV.

For orders that qualify for enhanced delivery, most customers can schedule their own delivery day--including weekends--and a two to four-hour window for delivery (dependent upon Zip Code). If the service is available for your order, "Scheduled Delivery" will appear on the detail page and as a shipping option during checkout. Simply select a delivery date and time from the carrier's available time slots displayed in the calendar.

Upon delivery, a representative of a common carrier will deliver your TV to any room suitable for testing, unpack it, ensure that it is working properly to guarantee no damage occurred during transportation, and dispose of all packaging material. If you discover any damage or obvious defects, please refuse delivery. You'll be responsible for any assembly and/or installation. An adult signature is required at the time of delivery.

Certain Perishable Items Between May 1 and Oct 1

During the warmer months some products require special packaging to make sure they arrive in good condition. The only shipping option for these items is our Expedited Chilled Shipping method. These items ship in Styrofoam containers with cooling gel packs and arrive 1-2 days after leaving our fulfillment center.

Since special handling is required for these items, there is a shipping charge of $1.99 per item and they aren't eligible for FREE Super Saver Shipping or Amazon Prime. Expedited Chilled Shipping is not available when shipping to a P.O. Box.
