What is the Send to Kindle application?

Send to Kindle for PC is a free application that lets you easily send your personal documents to your registered Kindle devices, supported Kindle reading applications, and your Kindle Library in the Amazon Cloud from your personal computer. You can send your documents using Windows Explorer or from any Windows application that allows you to print.

Send to Kindle for PC is available for download at www.amazon.com/sendtokindle. Support for Mac is coming soon.

I received a Kindle book gift. What do I do?

You can download the book to your Kindle device or a free Kindle reading application. Just open the e-mail message you received about your gift and click the Get your Kindle Book Gift Now button. Your web browser will launch and automatically take you to your gift on Amazon.com. Click the Accept Kindle Gift button and log into your Amazon.com account if prompted.

How do I remove an item from my Kindle Fire carousel on the Home screen?

If your Kindle Fire has the latest software version available, you can remove an item from your carousel by tapping and holding on the item, then selecting Remove from Carousel.

How do I set parental controls for my Kindle Fire?

If your Kindle Fire has the latest software version available, you can enable restrictions to control Wi-Fi access on your Kindle Fire.

Enabling Password Protected Wi-Fi turns off Wi-Fi on your device and will require your password to reactivate Wi-Fi. Parents may use this feature to prevent children from purchasing content without their permission or from browsing any inappropriate online content. You will see a Key icon to the right of the Quick Settings icon whenever Password Protected Wi-Fi is enabled and Wi-Fi is off.

What's included in the new software update for Kindle Fire?

We have a new, free over-the-air software update available for Kindle Fire. This update enhances fluidity and performance, improves touch navigation responsiveness, gives you the option to choose which items display on the carousel, and adds the ability to add a password lock on Wi-Fi access. The update will be automatically delivered to your Kindle Fire.

How can I return or exchange a Kindle or Kindle book?

Any Kindle purchased directly from Amazon.com and shipped by Amazon.com between November 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011, may be returned until January 31, 2012, for a full refund, subject to our other return guidelines listed in our Product Return Policies Help pages.

You can request a refund for items purchased from the Kindle Store within seven days of purchase, without having to contact customer service. Just visit Manage Your Kindle (www.amazon.com/manageyourkindle), click the Actions tab for the title you'd like to return, and select "Return for refund." If the book was given to you as a gift, you may exchange your gift for gift card credit on Amazon.com by reaching us via phone or e-mail by clicking on the Contact Us button on the Help pages.

Kindle customers may now borrow Kindle books from more than 11,000 libraries in the United States through the new public library books for Kindle feature. You can borrow Kindle books to read on any generation Kindle device, free Kindle app, or in your browser with Kindle Cloud Reader.

Are there any free books available for Kindle?

Can I loan a Kindle book?

Eligible Kindle books can be loaned once for a period of 14 days. The borrower does not need to own a Kindle -- Kindle books can also be read using our free Kindle reading applications for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android devices. Not all books are lendable -- it is up to the publisher or rights holder to determine which titles are eligible for lending.

Can I share content with other Kindles?

You can enjoy your Kindle content on Kindle devices or Kindle applications that are registered to your Amazon.com account. There may be limits on the number of devices (usually six) that can simultaneously use a single book. Subscriptions to newspapers or periodicals cannot be shared on multiple devices. You can see all your Kindle content and send downloads to your registered Kindles or Kindle applications from Your Kindle Library through Manage Your Kindle.

What do I do if my Kindle is missing or was stolen?

First, deregister your Kindle via the Manage Your Kindle page.

If your Kindle is found and we're contacted, we'll arrange for it to be returned to you. To file a police report, please contact your local police department.

You will also want to make sure that you cancel any active Kindle subscriptions on the Manage Your Kindle Subscriptions page. Canceling the subscription will ensure that you are no longer billed; you'll also receive a pro-rated refund for remaining issues you already paid for. You always have the option of subscribing at a later date.

If you have found a Kindle, you can either turn it into the appropriate lost/found or local authorities or our certified recycler, Eco International.
