Receiving a Kindle Book Gift

Any Kindle book available for purchase in the Kindle Store can be given as a gift to anyone with an e-mail address. You do not need a Kindle to send or receive Kindle book gifts, and the recipient can read their gift on a registered Kindle device or any free Kindle reading application.

Returning a Kindle device

Items shipped by Amazon.com between November 1, 2011 and December 31, 2011, may be returned until January 31, 2012, for a full refund, subject to our other return guidelines listed in our Product Return Policies Help pages.

Exchanging a Kindle book gift

If you already own the Kindle book you received, would prefer to have something else, or aren't eligible to receive the gifted book, we'll be happy to exchange it for you. We will provide you with an Amazon.com gift credit redeemable on millions of other items on Amazon.com including other Kindle books.

To exchange your gift for gift card credit on Amazon.com you can reach us via phone or e-mail by clicking on the Contact Us button on the Help pages.

Note: The value of your gift credit is based on the amount the gift giver paid. Promotional credit or offers used to purchase a gift cannot be exchanged for gift credit.
