What is Shop with Points at Amazon.com?

Shop with Points offers customers the ability to pay for purchases at Amazon.com using reward points of participating rewards programs.

Linking and Registering Your Rewards Programs

To get started, you can see a list of the participating rewards programs here.

If you have an Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card, your account will automatically be enrolled to Shop with Points. If you have an Amazon.com Business Rewards Visa Card, you may link your rewards program account to your Amazon account by completing the registration process. You'll need to accept the terms and conditions. If you receive an error message when you attempt to register an Amazon.com Business Rewards Visa Card, just follow the instructions on the error message.

If you have an eligible American Express card; you may link your Membership Rewards Program account to your Amazon account, by completing the registration process. You'll need to provide the correct information requested and accept the terms and conditions. If you receive an error message when you attempt to register an American Express Membership Rewards Program account, just follow the instructions on the error message.

If you have an eligible Discover Card, you may link your Discover Cashback Bonus or Discover Miles account to your Amazon account by completing the registration process. You'll need to provide the correct information requested and accept the terms and conditions. If you receive an error message when you attempt to register a Discover card, just follow the instructions on the error message.

If you have a rewards points balance that is less than 2 points, you may not see available points on the payments page. If there is an error in displaying your rewards account point balance, please contact your rewards points provider by calling the phone number on the back of your credit card.

If you're the primary cardholder and you'd like to exclude another cardholder from Shop with Points, just contact your rewards provider.

Shopping with Points

Shop with Points is available to buy millions of products on Amazon.com. Rewards program points cannot be used for all purchases on Amazon.com, and items that currently may not be purchased using Shop with Points include:

  • Amazon Kindle downloads
  • Amazon MP3s
  • Amazon Instant Video titles
  • AmazonFresh items
  • Subscribe and Save items
  • Games and Software downloads

Physical gift cards can be purchased using Shopping with Points. However, gift cards printed at home or sent via e-mail cannot be purchased using Shop with Points.

Before Placing Your Order

All Shop with Points purchases must be made via the Shopping Cart, and cannot be placed using 1-Click or over the phone with one of our sales teams. Points from multiple reward programs cannot be aggregated to pay for a single order.

Orders paid for using rewards points must also include the credit or charge card associated to the rewards account from which the rewards points are applied. The card doesn't need to be charged, but in the event you choose an action that increases the cost of your order, such as upgrading shipping, the card will be charged.

If you don't have enough rewards points to pay for your order, you can use the associated credit or charge card to pay for the rest of your order. Amazon Gift Cards and Amazon Stored Value Gift Cards may also be applied to your Shop with Points purchase.

If your rewards program provider has recently sent you a new card for any reason, please be sure to enroll the new card before attempting to Shop with Points.

Paying for Your Order

When choosing your payment method, be sure to choose the card linked to the rewards account. If your rewards don't appear on the order confirmation page, click the "Change" link under in the Billing Information section to apply your available rewards. You'll be able to apply the maximum available points to your order, or choose a different amount of points to apply.

We may ask you to re-enter your payment method details if you're shipping to a new address. Note: If JavaScript is disabled on your internet browser, you will not be able to use Shop with Points. To use Shop with Points you will need to go to your internet browser settings and turn on JavaScript. Go to the help section of your internet browser and search for JavaScript settings.

To determine how points convert to dollars for any order, simply divide the US dollar amount spent on points for that order by the rewards points applied. If you want additional details regarding rewards points conversion value, please contact your rewards program provider.

We'll subtract the rewards points you redeemed from your balance at the time your item is shipped. Your rewards points balance may not reflect redemptions for pending purchases until the purchase has been shipped.

Returning Orders Paid by Points

Amazon will refund Shop with Points paid orders according to its usual returns policies. In the event of a partial refund, Amazon will refund other payment methods initially charged, prior to refunding rewards points.

Note: The return policy of the seller will determine the return and refund policy for the items purchased from the seller. Orders from sellers that are shipped by Amazon.com through the Fulfillment by Amazon program are subject to the Amazon.com Returns Policy.

Manage your Shop with Points Account

You can manage your Shop with Points accounts by going to Your Account and selecting Shop with Points. This page will allow you to view your available points balance.

To disable Shop with Points at Amazon.com for the American Express Membership Rewards Cards, the Amazon.com Business Rewards Visa Card, or the Discover Card, click the Disable link beside the registered account.

To disable Shop with Points at Amazon.com for the Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card, you will need to go to the Amazon Rewards Visa account management page (http://www.chase.com/amazon) at Chase and select Cancel Shop with Points. You can also call Chase at 888-247-4080 to cancel Shop with Points.

Questions About the Membership Rewards® Program

There's no fee for using Membership Rewards Points from American Express® on Amazon.com. If your American Express Card is enrolled in the Membership Rewards Program, simply register your card to begin using Shop with Points. Once you add your Card and register for Shop with Points, you'll be able to use this Card anytime to pay for purchases on Amazon.com and use points on millions of products. If you have a Membership Rewards points balance that is less than 2 points, you may not see available points on the payments page. If there's an error in displaying your Membership Rewards account point balance, please contact American Express by calling the phone number on the back of your card.

Troubleshooting Shop with Points Issues


Need help because... You can try to...
...your rewards points don't appear during checkout?

Possible causes:
  • The rewards credit card is not registered in Shop with Points.
  • The points balance is zero.
  • JavaScript is not enabled on your browser.

Verify you've registered an eligible rewards credit card to your Amazon.com account.

You can view a list of eligible cards here. To check the status of your registered rewards cards, visit the Shop with Points Account Management page in Your Account.

Check your available rewards balance.

Your rewards balance won't display if the balance is zero. To check your rewards program balance, please contact your rewards program provider at the number found on the back of your related credit card.

Verify that JavaScript is enabled.

If JavaScript is disabled on your Internet browser, you won't be able to use Shop with Points. To use Shop with Points you'll need to go to your browser settings and turn on JavaScript. Go to the Help section of your browser and search for "JavaScript settings" for instructions on how to do so.

Reload the Payment Selection page to see if your points balance will display.

You can do so by clicking the "Refesh" or "Reload" button on your Internet browser, or by pressing F5 while on the Payment Selection page.

They can be reached at 1-800-297-1090. You'll be asked to verify your credentials to have your account unlocked.

...there's an error on the registration page?

Possible causes:
  • You're attempting to register a rewards card that is not eligible for Shop with Points.
  • The card is already registered with Shop with Points.

Verify the card is eligible for Shop with Points.

The Amazon.com Rewards Visa Card is automatically registered in Shop with Points. You only need to add it to your Amazon.com account. To check which rewards cards are registered under your Amazon.com account, please visit the Shop with Points Account Management page in Your Account.
