'Dumb and Dumber 2': Director says sequel filming this year, with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels

4 hours ago | EW - Inside Movies | See recent EW.com - Inside Movies news »

Peter and Bobby Farrelly have been quietly developing a sequel to Dumb and Dumber for awhile now. Back in October, we heard that Sean Anders and John Morris — the comedy screenwriting duo behind Hot Tub Time Machine and Mr. Popper’s Penguins — were hard at work on a script. That was the last bit of news about the project…at least until this weekend, when Peter Farrelly dropped a Twitter-imploding bombshell in the middle of a Three Stooges press junket. “We’re getting set to shoot Dumb and Dumber 2 in September,” the director told ComingSoon.net. “We’ve got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back. »

Jack And Jill Sweeps Literally Every Single Category of the Razzies

5 hours ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Well this is quite something. The “Adam Sandler plays a brother and sister” movie Jack and Jill has just made cinematic history: the “comedy” swept literally every single category of the Razzie Awards, which honor the worst in cinematic achievement. Sandler took home Worst Actor and Worst Actress, Al Pacino nabbed Worst Supporting Actor, and the film itself was honored with a triple Worst Couple for Sandler and Katie Holmes, Sandler and Pacino, and Sandler and Sandler. All in all, it was a pretty great/terrible night for Adam Sandler. Hit the jump to see the full list of nominees that Jack and Jill bested in each category. I keep hoping in vain that the actor will try his hand at drama again, but Grown Ups 2 is on the horizon and this unfunny streak appears to have no end in sight. As such, I’m assuming this isn’t »

Ashton Kutcher to Play Steve Jobs in Biopic Jobs

23 hours ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Given the rather odd casting choice, I feel the need to preface this story with the assertion that this is not an April Fools’ Day joke; this story is (as reported) 100% real.  With that in mind, Mr. Ashton Kutcher is apparently readying to play the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs in a biopic called Jobs.  The notion of a Jobs-centric biopic isn’t exactly new, as Sony began developing such a film merely days after the innovator’s passing.  Last we heard, The Social Network scribe Aaron Sorkin was considering penning the studio project, but Jobs is an entirely separate film.  Per Variety, Joshua Michael Stern (Swing Vote) is set to direct Jobs from a script by Matt Whiteley.  The film will chronicle Jobs’ life “from a wayward hippie to co-founder of Apple.”  Despite Kutcher’s fairly heavy comedic background, I have to admit he »

Watch: Trailer For Omnibus '7 Days In Havana' Plus First Look At Josh Hutcherson, Daniel Bruhl & Emir Kusturica In The Film

1 hour ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

With Paris and New York already getting their big screen valentines in two omnibus movies, and with Syndey brewing one of their own, Havana is going to get their time to shine with "7 Days In Havana." And to get a bit of sun soaked flavor before summer is here in full force, the first trailer has arrived.

A tremendously strong batch of directors have come together for this one -- Benicio Del Toro, Laurent Cantet ("The Class"), Gaspar Noé ("Enter the Void"), Pablo Trapero ("Carancho"), Elia Suleiman, Julio Medem ("Sex And Lucia") and Juan Carlos Tabio -- in a film that unlike some of the films that have come before, will see characters recur in everyone's short films. Josh Hutcherson and Daniel Bruhl are the two starrier names that appear (though, keep an eye out for Emir Kusturica as well) in the pic penned by Cuban novelist Leonardo Padura that »

Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels' Reunion Will Be 'Dumb'

1 hour ago | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

Jim Carrey has spent the last decade securing himself a place in Hollywood as more than just a rubber-faced goof, but it looks like he's ready to get stupid once again.

Coming Soon reports that the actor is returning to his ridiculous roots with a sequel to his 1994 hit comedy "Dumb and Dumber."

At a press junket for their remake of "The Three Stooges," scheduled for release April 13, Bobby and Peter Farrelly announced that audiences can expect a "Dumber" sequel in the not-too-distant future.

Peter Farrelly told reporters, "We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September. It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

In addition to letting fans know about the impending sequel, Farrelly was clear to point out that the 2003 prequel (and flop) "Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd" was not one of the brothers' creations. »

Danny Boyle Directing A James Bond Short Film With Daniel Craig For The London Olympics

1 hour ago | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

I would love to see Danny Boyle tackle a feature length James Bond film. Sure, he doesn't have much experience in the action genre, but over the course of his career he has shown that he has never afraid of trying something new, be it the bloody horror of 28 Days Later, the trapped-in-one-location thriller 127 Hours, or the Bollywood-inspired, Oscar-winning phenom Slumdog Millionaire. But while we may never get to see Boyle take on a full 007 adventure, at the very least we will get a preview of what that could look like. As part of the 2012 Olympic Games, which will be held this summer in London, Boyle will be making a short film starring Daniel Craig in character as James Bond. The whole thing was started when Craig was invited to Buckingham Palace and met Queen Elizabeth, and was asked to shoot an intro for the games. Titled The Arrival, the »

'Ted' Red-Band Trailer Loves Mark Wahlberg, Hates Thunder

1 hour ago | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

Movie pitch: two lifelong best friends hit the streets of Boston, Massachusetts. One of them is a smart-mouthed, super-ripped local (okay, he's Mark Wahlberg, obviously). The other, an even fouler-mouthed talking teddy bear. Sounds like a winning combo, right?

Somebody certainly thinks so, or else this gloriously red-band trailer for Seth MacFarlane's "Ted" would not exist. Thank the powers that be that it does: that scare-the-thunder-away song, vulgar though it may be, is going to be taught to little children everywhere come summer time. Get all of that and more on the new "Ted" trailer at MTV News!

First Images of Christoph Waltz in Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained and Mark Wahlberg in Michael Bay’s Pain And Gain

1 hour ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Quentin Tarantino is currently busy shooting his slavery-era spaghetti western Django Unchained, and now the first images from the set have landed online.  We get our first look at Christoph Waltz in character as a German bounty hunter who teams up with an escaped slave (Jamie Foxx) who’s bent on rescuing his wife from an evil plantation owner (Leonardo DiCaprio).  It’s not much, but the sight of Waltz decked out in his period gear has me giddy at the thought of a Tarantino-fied full blown Western.  We also get an image of the director on set with cinematographer Robert Richardson. We’ve also got the first set photos of Mark Wahlberg and Rob Corddry in Michael Bay’s crime comedy Pain and Gain, including some images of Wahlberg doing some harness-enhanced crunches.  Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson play bodybuilders who get caught up in an extortion ring and a »

'Lovely Molly' Trailer Works Hard to Remind Us How Much We Loved 'Blair Witch'

1 hour ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Director Eduardo Sanchez effectively helped begin the found footage genre when he co-directed "The Blair Witch Project" 13 years ago. Plenty of other directors have added their own takes on the genre with diminishing results ("The Devil Inside," anyone?), but Sanchez is revisiting the concept again with his latest horror film "Lovely Molly." From the looks of the new trailer, it's not your typical found-footage thriller. The film uses a standard narrative with intermittent first-person Pov footage, meaning maybe we won't be asking why the characters are filming the entire time as horrible things happen to them. The film finds a newlywed woman moving into her abandoned childhood home. She starts experiencing strange, terrifying events and believes a malevolent force is out to get her and her family. The trailer really hinges on our memory of "The Blair Witch Project," as more than a few images are reminiscent of stuff we saw. »

First Look at Christoph Waltz on the Set of Quentin Tarantino's 'Django Unchained'

1 hour ago | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

I can't help but laugh at what set pictures I decide to post and those I don't. Clearly I tend to focus on the films I'm most looking forward to and considering Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained is my most anticipated film of 2012 it only makes sense I would post this first picture of Christoph Waltz as Dr. King Schultz on the set of the upcoming western / revenge tale. The film centers on a freed slave by the name of Django (Jamie Foxx) who seeks to reunite with Broomhilda (Kerry Washington), his slave wife, in a journey which will see him team up with Dr. King Schultz (Waltz), a German bounty hunter, to take down Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio), an evil plantation owner. Additional members of the cast include Samuel L. Jackson, Gerald McRaney, Dennis Christopher, Kurt Russell, M.C. Gainey, Don Johnson, Tom Savini, Anthony Lapaglia, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, RZA, Misty Upham, »

Rampage Movie Scores A Writer

2 hours ago | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Last fall, when word got out that New Line Cinema was developing an action movie based on the 1980s arcade game Rampage, our own Eric Eisenberg was less than optimistic about the project. He argued that such dated material lacked the visual panache or compelling storylines that could be used for a successful adaptation. However, there's now some cause for optimism as the Warner Bros. subsidiary has hired up-and-coming screenwriter Ryan Engle to adapt the property into an epic adventure in the vein of Independence Day. THR notes Engle earned buzz about Hollywood when his original thriller On a Clear Day nabbed a spot on the 2011 Black List, the collection of the industry's most popular unproduced screenplays. The enticing script is presently being groomed for director Jaume Collet-Sera (Unknown), and Engle has inked an overall deal with Intrepid Pictures, which has inspired the heralded scribe to walk away from his »

First Look At Christoph Waltz As Dr. King Schultz On The Set Of 'Django Unchained'

2 hours ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Well, it was bound to happen sooner or later. With filming underway on Quentin Tarantino's slavery/spaghetti wester/vengeance tale "Django Unchained" the production has been keeping everything surrounding the film tightly under wraps, with little leaking out. Until now.

A first look at Christoph Waltz in costume as Dr. King Schultz on the set of the film has arrived (via Ontd). He plays the bounty hunter who pairs up with a freed slave (Jamie Foxx) to track down his wife (Kerry Washington) who is being held by a sadistic plantation owner, Calvin Candie (Leonardo DiCaprio). What else can we tell you that you don't already know...and holy shit, is that a gun in his pocket or is Waltz just happy to see you? And here's a small additional morsel of info. Last month, the Hattiesburg American reported that largely unknown actor Johnny McPhail landed a (probably tiny) role in the film. »

Greta Gerwig Talks Working With Whit Stillman On 'Damsels In Distress' & Who's Left On Her Director Wishlist

2 hours ago | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

Greta Gerwig keeps getting to mark names off of her director checklist. And it’s a pretty good list. There’s the Duplass Brothers, Noah Baumbach and, most recently, Whit Stillman and Woody Allen. To the surprise of some fans, Gerwig also recently branched out into larger budget studio fare with “No Strings Attached” and “Arthur.” But not to worry. The actress says she’s learned the bigger movies are a way to keep the smaller movies coming, at least as soon as studios figure out a way to best position her unique acting attributes.

In “Damsels in Distress,” Gerwig plays the hopelessly hopeful Violet Wister, the leader of a group of beautiful damsels who hope to raise the level of an East Coast College’s social standards. Oh, and Violet also hopes to launch a worldwide dance craze while she’s at it. Directed and written by Stillman, 'Damsels' »

'Two and a Half Men' Creator Says There's Too Much 'Vagina on Television'

2 hours ago | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Talking to the Hollywood Reporter about whether or not "Two and a Half Men" pinch hitter Ashton Kutcher would be back for another season, co-creator Lee Aronsohn had some opinions to share about the recent slate of female-driven comedies, a la "Whitney," "2 Broke Girls," "The New Girl." "Enough ladies. I get it. You have periods," Aronsohn commented. He applauded women like Whitney Cummings, Chelsea Handler and Tina Fey securing a voice to discuss formerly taboo subjects on TV. "But we’re approaching peak vagina on television, the point of labia saturation," he added. The current female TV boom contrasts with Two and a Half Men mostly portraying women as bimbos, something Aronsohn isn't about to apologize for. “Screw it… We're centering the show on two very damaged men. What makes men damaged? Sorry, it’s women. I never got my heart broken by a man,” Aronsohn earlier told »

Daniel Craig to Appear as James Bond During Opening Ceremonies for 2012 Olympics

2 hours ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The 2012 Olympic Games in London are getting a little help from a familiar friend.  After receiving a personal invitation from the Queen herself, Daniel Craig agreed to, and shot, an introduction to the upcoming summer Olympics for director Danny Boyle.  The Slumdog Millionaire helmer has been busy putting together the Opening Ceremonies, and apparently Bond/Craig will play a part in the opening video entitled “The Arrival.”  Sequences were shot at Buckingham palace, and rumors abound that the Queen herself will be making an appearance. Craig’s involvement was first reported by The Sun on Sunday, but it was April Fools’ Day and all so we were hesitant to take the story at face value.  Nevertheless, it now appears that a Bond-infused Olympics is definitely on.  If you want to read details regarding Craig’s stunt-filled role in the video, hit the jump. Apparently Bond arrives at Buckingham Palace by »

First Poster For Oliver Stone's Savages Is Here

There's a type of movie poster that is really starting to grow in popularity. I'm referring to the horizontal blinds format. You may remember it from Alejandro González Iñárritu's 2006 film Babel, Robert Schwentke's 2010 movie Red, or even last year's I Melt With You, but today we have found yet another movie that is showing off its ensemble cast in stripe form. The first one-sheet for Oliver Stone's Savages, has arrived online, showing off its brilliant lineup of performers, including Taylor Kitsch, Benicio Del Toro, Blake Lively, Salma Hayek and John Travolta (as well as a mystery person behind a mask). The movie is Stone's first since 2010's Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps. You can see it below, but to see it in its highest resolution head over to JoBlo. Based on the novel by Don Winslow and adapted by Winslow and Shane Salerno, the story centers on »

'Wrath,' 'Mirror' No Match for 'Hunger Games'

2 hours ago | Box Office Mojo | See recent BoxOfficeMojo.com news »

Box office phenomenon The Hunger Games was once again the undisputed champ this weekend, as it had little difficulty fending off unimpressive fantasy flicks Wrath of the Titans and Mirror Mirror. With that strong holdover performance, and two newcomers combining for over $50 million, the Top 12 earned $140.4 million (a 23 percent improvement over the same period last year). The Hunger Games fell 61.6 percent to $58.55 million this weekend. That ranks as the eighth-highest second weekend ever, though it fell behind Avatar, Spider-Man and Alice in Wonderland among non-sequels. Still, that drop was lighter than the decline for any of the Twilight movies that opened on a Friday including the first one, which lost 62.2 percent in its second weekend. The sci-fi book adaptation will pass $250 million on Monday, which will make it the seventh-fastest movie to ever reach that milestone (first among non-sequels). Through just 10 days in theaters, The Hunger Games has earned $248.5 million, »

'Dumb And Dumber 2' Set To Film This Fall With Jim Carrey And Jeff Daniels

You can go ahead and erase any trace of "Dumb and Dumberer" from your memory. We will finally have a true follow-up to the original 1994 comedy.

ComingSoon.net recently spoke with Peter Farrelly during the "Three Stooges" junket, and one half of the brotherly duo confirmed that "Dumb and Dumber 2" is set to go in front of cameras later this year.

"We're getting set to shoot 'Dumb and Dumber 2' in September," Farrelly said. "It's the first sequel we've ever done and we've got Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels back."

Understandably, Farrelly wanted to make clear that he and his brother had nothing to do with 2003's "Dumb and Dumberer."

"We did not do 'Dumb and Dumberer,'" Farrelly said. "That was a studio thing. So we've always wanted to do a sequel and finally Jim called up. Jeff always wanted to do it. We always wanted to do it. »
