RED WHEEL RAINBOW WINDOWS SCARF

Size: approx 6" wide x 36" long

Materials: 1/2 skein Interlacements Utah (68% rayon, 32% cotton light worsted wt.) in color Red Wheel Rainbow (RWR)

3 skeins Brown Sheep Top of the Lamb sports weight (100% wool)

1 each in Russet, Mallard, Emperors Purple - OR any worsted wt. yarn or combination of yarns to equal worsted wt.

Size 11 needles, or size needed to match gauge.

Gauge: 6.5 sts = 2 in. in stockinette stitch on size 11 needles

Stitch Patterns:

Seed stitch pattern:

Row 1: *K1, P1, rep from * across.

Row 2: *P1, K1, rep from * across.

Rep Rows 1 & 2, knitting the purls and purling the knits.

Windows pattern:

Row 1: K1, (yo, slip 1, K1, psso) 3x, K5.

Row 2 and all even rows: Purl.

Rows 3 and 5: Same as Row 1.

Row 7: K5, (yo, slip 1, K1, psso) 3x, K1.

Rows 9 and 11: Same as Row 7.

Row 12: Purl.

Rep these 12 rows for Windows pattern.

NOTE: Scarf is worked holding one strand of RWR together with one strand of Top ofthe Lamb. Slip stitches purlwise. Color sequence:

First 12 rows: 1 strand RWR, 1 strand Russet Top of the Lamb.

*Next 12 rows: 1 strand RWR, 1 strand Mallard Top ofthe Lamb.

Next 12 rows: 1 strand RWR, 1 strand Emperors Purple Top of the Lamb.

Next 12 rows: 1 strand RWR, 1 strand Russet Top ofthe Lamb.

Rep from * throughout scarf. Cut and join Top of the Lamb colors as necessary. DO NOT CUT RWR.

SCARF

Holding one strand RWR with one strand Russet Top of the Lamb, cast on 18 stitches loosely.

Work seed stitch border:

Row 1: *K1, p1, rep from * across.

Row 2: *P1, k1, rep from * across.

Rep Rows 1 and 2 twice more (total 6 rows).

Begin Windows pattern:

Row 1 : Work first 3 stitches in seed stitch as established, place marker, K1, (yo, slip 1, knit 1, psso) 3x, K5, place marker, work last 3 stitches in seed stitch as established. (Keep 3 stitches at beginning and end of each row in seed stitch.)

Row 2 and all even rows: Seed stitch across 3 sts, purl across 12 sts between markers, seed stitch 3 sts.

Rows 3 and 5 : Rep Row 1 of Windows pattern.

Note: Change colors on next row, then follow color sequence changing colors every 12 rows as noted above.

Row 7: Seed stitch across first 3 sts, K5, (yo, slip 1, K 1, psso) 3x, K1, seed stitch across last 3 sts.

Rows 9 and 11: Rep Row 7.

Row 12 : Seed stitch across 3 sts, purl across 12 sts between markers, seed stitch across last 3 sts.

Rep Rows 1-12 for pattern. End scarf with 6 rows Windows pattern with Russet/RWR ,then finish with 6 rows seed stitch border with Russet/RWR to match beginning of scarf. Bind off stitches loosely. Weave in ends. Block lightly between damp towels to open the "windows"!
