Size:
Newborn to 6 mos. Measures approx. 3" at sole.
Materials:
Bernat Baby Softee or sport-weight baby yarn -
1 oz. white & few yards contrast
color (or use all one color)
Size G & F hooks
Row 1:
With size G hook and white, ch 28, dc in 4th ch from hook and each
ch across (26 dc).
Row 2:
Ch 2, turn, 1 dc in same st at base of turning ch-2, ch2, sc in same
st, *skip 2 dc, in next dc work (2 dc, ch 2, sc), rep from * across
(ignore turning ch at end of row (9 dc groups).
Row 3:
Ch 2, turn, 1 dc in sp at base of turning ch-2, ch 2, sc in same st,
*in next ch-2 sp work (2 dc, ch 2, sc), rep from * across.
Row 4:
Ch 1, turn. Sl st across ea sp and st of first two dc-groups (6
sts), sl st in ch-2 space of third dc-group, ch 2, dc in same sp, ch
2, sc in same sp, *in next ch-2 sp work (2 dc, ch 2, sc), rep from *
3 more times (you should end up with 5 groups). Leave rest of row
unworked.
Row 5:
Ch 2, turn, 1 dc in same sp as turning ch-2, ch 2, sc in same sp,
*in next ch-2 sp work (2 dc, ch 2, sc), rep from * across (5 groups)
NOTE:
Work Rows 6-8 loosely or on a one-size-larger hook to avoid
tightness at top of cuff.
Row 6:
Ch 1, turn. Sc in ea st and sp across (15 sc). Fasten off white.
Row 7:
Attach contrast color in last st of Row 6, ch 1, turn. Sc in ea sc
across (15 sc).
Row 8 (edging):
Ch 1, turn, sl st in first 2 sc, for picot (ch 3, sl st in 3rd ch
from hook), *sl st in next 2 sc, picot, rep from * across, ending
with 1 sl st (7 picots). Fasten off. With right sides tog, fold
bootie in half and whipstitch seam down front of cuff, foot, and
sole. Turn bootie right-side out.
Ties:
With size F hook and contrast color, ch 85. Fasten off. Weave tie
through spaces between Rows 3 and 4. Knot ends of chain and trim (or
use ribbon for ties) Tie into bow.
