What is the Citizen Liaison Office?

The Citizen Liaison Office is a department at the Ontario Municipal Board that is available to assist with explaining the Board’s rules, practices and procedures and to answer general questions concerning the functions of the Board. The Citizen Liaison Office is also available to meet with any person at the Board’s office in Toronto. To make an appointment, please contact the Citizen Liaison Office.

How do I contact the Citizen Liaison Office?

The Citizen Liaison’s Office is open from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.- 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for holidays. You can contact us by phone at 416-326-6800, and toll free at 1-866-887-8820.

How can the Citizen Liaison Office help me?

The Citizen Liaison Office has been created to help the public participate effectively in the OMB process by improving their understanding of OMB policies and practices. We are here to answer your questions such as:

  • How do I appeal?
  • What is the process?
  • What is required for an appeal?
  • How is a decision issued?
  • What happens from the time I submit my appeal until the time of the hearing?

The Citizen Liaison Office also has materials available to assist the public. There are information sheets, a Guide to the OMB, an interactive website and many other useful tools to help you better understand the Board’s processes.

Can the Citizen Liaison Office give a presentation to my ratepayers association etc.?

The Citizen Liaison Office may send a representative to answer questions at ratepayers associations, community meetings, municipal meetings and other functions. Please contact the Citizen Liaison’s Office in advance of your meeting to discuss your request.
