The process starts with the filing of an appeal. An appeal must be formally submitted within the legislated timelines and be accompanied by the required information and filing fees.
Early participation in the planning process is required for filing some types of appeals and is an important part of filing other types of appeals. Legislation generally sets out who can appeal, how to appeal and within what time frames an appeal must be filed. The Planning Act, for some types of matters, makes specific requirements for an appeal. They include giving an oral presentation at a public meeting or providing written submissions to municipal council. If you are unsure whether you can appeal, please consult the Planning Act or other relevant legislation.
If you would like to submit an appeal, please use the step-by-step instructions provided on how to file an appeal with the Ontario Municipal Board. Select the Next button after you have completed each step to continue the process of filing your appeal.
