The Game Of The Year (1851 - )

This is a personal selection of the best games of the year from 1851 on. I chose that particular year because of the 1851 London Tournament.

Because it's a personal selection, I will (of course) be a little biased, particularly towards tactical and sacrificial games, games from important events (the biggest tournaments, World championship matches, etc.) and sometimes players I like. I will try and minimize this.

This is not a collection of "perfect" or "quasi-perfect" games, in my opinion, a game need not be "perfect" to qualify as great. Intense battles, where both players give their best, show ingenuity and creativity and despite making mistakes (which are an essential part of chess) cooperate to create very exciting games. Oh, and I won't include odds games.

I'm currently quite busy and won't have much time to research, so the collection will grow very slowly in the beginning.

All feedback, be it criticism, suggestions, your own opinions, games I might have missed or whatever, is most welcome. You can post it in my forum: User: TheAlchemist.

Thank you for taking the time to go through my collections and take care!
