Banco Santander (Spanish: [ˈbaŋko santanˈdeɾ]) is a Spanish bank, and the principal subsidiary of the Santander Group. The bank was established in Santander in 1857.
In December 2012, the Santander Group announced that it would merge Banesto and Banco BANIF into Banco Santander, purchasing the remaining 10% of Banesto it did not already own. [1]
