About the Faculty

The Faculty of Epidemiology and Population Health aims to expand the limits of epidemiology and address some of the largest public health problems in the world.
The Faculty’s mission is to inform the biological understanding of diseases and provide evidence for decision making in public health using methodologically rigorous
and innovative approaches. We work in over 20 countries, on a range of diseases from HIV and cardiovascular disease to mental health.

The Faculty has around 330 staff (of which 25 are based outside the UK) and 150 research students organised into four departments:

Research

We are the largest grouping of epidemiologists in Europe with research expertise ranging from clinical trials, statistical analysis genetic epidemiology, large-scale observational studies and field trials through to the design and evaluation of clinical and public health interventions in low, middle and high-income countries.

Education: teaching & learning

The Faculty runs a range of popular and respected master’s degree programmes, including Demography and Health, Epidemiology, Medical Statistics, Nutrition for Global Health, Reproductive and Sexual Health Research, as well as joint programmes in Global Mental Health, Public Health in Developing Countries and One Health.
