Marines and Charger players were able to interact on the practice field, while the athletes signed autographs for each of the military officers.
He's calm enough and respectful enough to walk into a reporter-filled room with an Aztec shirt and finely cut hair, lines sharp as the razor that cut him. But when you look at his neck, you see the gold encrusted "D" hanging from a strand of strings. There's a cross, too - we'd all pray for safety and security if we skipped a pile of cash to come back for records, both team and individual. No denying it, though - San Diego State has a bonafide pro on their hands, even if ...

It's a warm summer morning down at Mission Bay. Usually the echoes from the still new field are of crows and seagulls at this time, but instead its the cracks of leather and metal poles. Isn't it summer? Aren't the children sleeping in? Maybe they are, but this isn't about them today. It's about a little happy-go-lucky squad that rose from the quiet to run the soccer world. It's a morning with the pros of Albion SC. "I grew up in this club," midfielder Luis Cardona...

The golden boy of a Go Blue nation couldn't make it five steps from his car without stopping for a picture. "Been a fan my whole life," one man says. "Coach, we love you," says another. Have you ever seen a simple college football coach treated like a rock star? Well, how many coaches have you seen go on a world tour across mountains and oceans? That's the Harbaugh Way now. Put camps in 50 places. Tell people who would never see you all about your story. Anger...
Todd Doxey was the first of this modern era to take the trip from America's Finest City to the Northwest. A special trio followed his path, and a Silver Pigskin winner came rolling after. Two members of the class of 2017 have plotted their land in Eugene in 2016. And all throughout that time, one man has watched it all happen...an oddity considering his lackluster attendance on these shores. "Not enough would be my answer for how often I'm in San Diego," Oregon coach Mar...
The Oregon Ducks have come to the conclusion many other schools have found over the past decades, and they're getting better at executing it than their NCAA counterparts. San Diego is a recruiter's paradise, and the major chips are falling their way. Madison linebacker Sampson Niu is joining Mater Dei's C.J.Verdell as the second player of the 2017 class to verbally commit to the campus in Eugene. While a verbal counts just as much as a pinky swear, don't expect the three star p...

"Chase those goals and just encourage them to do so. Whether your sport might take you all the way through college, just never know where you might end up and hopefully they will continue to pursue what...
It's a regular Wednesday afternoon at Mongoose Gym, and Lizzette Corrales is following her same routine. Orange wraps on the hands. A perfect ponytail. And 30 minutes of circles around Market Street. One problem on this day - a camera crew is waiting for Corrales. There's interviews to be done before the exercise can begin. The 15-year-old out of La Jolla High School never notices. "I had to stop her from running so you could do the interview," coach Arthur Wilson said.
Baseball flows through the Moniak veins. Bill rode the bus in the Red Sox system, trading tips with Ted Williams. Matt swung the bat at Tony Gywnn Stadium after his father settled in San Diego. Now their offspring completes another generation with Mickey's ascendance to the professional ranks...something that the grandfather saw in the grandson long ago. "I used to pick him up when he was two or three years old," Bill said. "He had [a baseball] with the major l...
