CASE LAW CITATION

Be more confident in your case law research with the power of Bloomberg Law’s integrated primary and secondary resources. Bloomberg BNA Classification Outlines and Headnotes zero in on key points of selected cases.  Plus, BCiteSM, our proprietary citator, helps you determine whether your case is still good law, as well as find and research other on-point cases and legal documents.

SEE THE POINT SOONER WITH BLOOMERG BNA CLASSIFICATION OUTLINES
Get to the heart of important cases in key practice areas with Bloomberg BNA Headnotes and Classification Outlines drafted by Bloomberg BNA’s experienced attorney-editors. The headnotes within the classification outlines, including The United States Patents Quarterly®, help you get to the heart of a case because they’re written to be specific to each case, rather than just providing a general point of law. Email Notifications for the outlines are also available. Sign up to receive automatic notifications when cases — with headnotes — are added to the outlines.

VERIFY YOUR RESEARCH WITH BCITE
Learn about whether your case is good law using BCite, which is integrated into our full legal research system. Review the composite analysis and see how the case is discussed in court opinions and other legal documents that reference your case by citation. BCite features like Sort options, filters (including citation frequency), and case extracts enable you to quickly view and analyze the judicial history and subsequent history of a case. In addition to finding out if your research is on track, you can easily review relevant dockets through links in the sidebar while reading an opinion.

FIND EVEN MORE OF WHAT YOU NEED WITH CITING DOCUMENTS
Achieve even more precise results after you find a key case. On the Citing Documents tab, view the court opinions, administrative decisions, secondary sources, and other legal materials that cite your case and narrow the results easily with dynamic filters. Use the keyword search on the tab to find the legal documents that both cite your case and discuss relevant concepts.

STAY CURRENT ON WHAT YOU’RE CITING
Know when your opinion is cited again, automatically. Select Create Citation Alert on the Citing Documents tab to be notified by email each time an opinion or other type of content (including secondary sources) that cites your opinion is added to Bloomberg Law.
