Syria, Russia the real threats to U.S.

We are not on the threshold of nuclear war with Russia because of a taped conversation Donald Trump had 11 years ago. Civilization itself is not under imminent threat because Mr. Trump pinched a beauty contestant on the behind in 1986. We face our current critical hour because a “former” Muslim named Barack Obama and a secretary of state with deep ties to the Muslim Brotherhood named Hillary Clinton orchestrated the so-called Arab Spring to overthrow the government of one Muslim nation after the other in order to create a caliphate of nations under the umbrella of the Brotherhood.

We can’t afford another Democrat

Electing a Democrat to serve what would effectively be President Obama’s third term would cause much worse things to come to pass than the funding of sanctuary cities and Planned Parenthood. And even if a Republican is elected president, a Democratic majority in the legislative branch will serve to undermine new policies.

Clinton a career criminal

Recently released emails show that the Justice Department was in contact with the Hillary Clinton campaign, warning it about various aspects of the criminal investigation into Clinton. This means that the fix (as anyone whose been paying attention already knows) was in. The Democratic nominee for president is a criminal who is not in prison because Obama’s Justice Department is totally corrupt.

HSBC market prediction self-serving

I read that HSBC is predicting a major stock market calamity similar to the 1987 crash. Of course, a stock market crash would severely damage hundreds of millions of middle-class workers’ retirement portfolios. If it were any other bank except the global criminal enterprise HSBC has become, I’m not sure whether I’d be fearful or dismissive of this analysis.

Trump bets on Russian vote

Donald Trump’s pro-Putin perspective on Syria puts him at odds with his own running mate and most every other politician observing Russian tactics (“After testy VP debate, Trump rebuffs claim he ‘loves’ Putin,” Web, Oct. 5). Does the Donald know something the rest of the Western world doesn’t?

Trump campaign dead in water?

Watching last Sunday night's presidential debate, I couldn't help but think I was witnessing a 'dead man walking' — and not because of the lewd, disgusting comments Donald Trump made about women in 2005. For the second time in a row, Republican candidate Trump flunked the commander-in-chief test. Basically his answers about Russia, Aleppo and Syria in general not only were uninspiring, they were woefully underwhelming.

Don't vote for 'lesser evil'

In the republic of the United States of America, we elect local representatives to the legislative branch to vote their conscience on issues of national importance. Why? Because we cannot all be a part of every decision. Many of us are frustrated when those representatives politicize their votes in Washington, regardless of the reason.

Don't be fooled by Hamas

A terrorist rocket attack from Gaza last Wednesday, Oct. 5, landed in the Israeli town of Sderot. The Islamic State claimed responsibility and said it was part of their "Jihad against Jews." The rocket left a scorched crater in the road while the blast shattered windows of homes and shrapnel damaged cars in the street nearby.

Sick of Clinton 'coincidences'

It has become astonishingly clear that the only Obama-Biden accomplishment during the duo's entire second term has been to hire as many former Clinton staffers as possible. It's as if Hillary and Bill Clinton are already president.

Replace 'broken' representation

We now have a small window of opportunity to decide what to do with our broken Congress: Fix it or replace it? Just as a car that gets old and broken calls for this kind of decision, every American voter needs to decide what we must do to keep our country running.

U.S. should set example

For five long years, Syrian residents have been suffering on an epic scale. At least 250,000 people have been killed, and many of the survivors are starving and homeless. Embattled people immigrate to the United States, not just for a better future -- but any future.

Rethink Hyde Amendment

Rep. Chris Smith's "The life-saving amendment" (Web, Sept. 29) is riddled with myths and misinformation about the Hyde Amendment, a 40-year-old policy that politicians use to deny abortion coverage to low-income women.

Peres' grave mistake

President Obama's eulogy at the funeral of former Israeli President Shimon Peres, who died last week at the age of 93, was exceptionally moving, profound and visionary. It was probably one of the better speeches he has given during his presidency. It also demonstrated the positive impact Peres had on so many world leaders and personalities.

'Irredeemably' snake-oil resistant

If those with an informed and visceral objection to the prospect of Hillary Clinton holding court in the Oval Office are indeed deplorable and irredeemable, then count me in. Now what happens? Do I and half of the voting public get some kind of distinguishing mark so we can be easily identified and properly shunned?

Missile crisis 2.0?

Almost on a daily basis we hear about al Qaeda, the Islamic State, China, North Korea and Russia being a threat to our national security. But seldom do we hear of anything about Venezuela in this regard.

Next president must stop Putin

During the G-20 talks, Russia and China did joint anti-submarine and island-seizing exercises, as Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping fill the void in a time of American retreat around the globe, especially in Syria, Ukraine and NATO. After eight years of Mr. Putin taking America to the cleaners, the next U.S. president must make U.S. power great again.

Clinton dangerously flawed

Electing Hillary Clinton as the first woman president would be a great moment in the history of this great nation. Except she is a fatally flawed human being who is now known to be willing to put the defense and security of the United States in danger so that she would not be inconvenienced by having to use two email systems and servers.
