Patchwork Redskins defense clamps down

After being gouged for 380 yards in Week 4 by the no-name Cleveland Browns, the Redskins defense has clamped down, holding rookie phenom Carson Wentz and the Eagles to a couple of field goals Sunday and making Joe Flacco the week before look so inept the Baltimore Ravens fired their offensive coordinator.

NFL to reopen Josh Brown investigation after abuse docs emerge

The NFL is going to re-open its investigation of New York Giants placekicker Josh Brown and the team has pulled him from its next game after police released journal entries and emails in which he admitted that he verbally and physically abused his former wife.

Los Angeles Sparks win WNBA title, beat Minnesota Lynx

Nneka Ogwumike’s short jumper with 3.1 seconds left gave the Los Angeles Sparks a 77-76 victory over the defending champion Minnesota Lynx for their first title in 14 years in the deciding game of the WNBA Finals on Thursday night.

Cubs blast Dodgers to pull even in NLCS

Anthony Rizzo homered and ended a postseason skid with three RBIs. The rest of the Chicago Cubs’ hitters broke out equally as big in routing the Los Angeles Dodgers 10-2 on Wednesday to even the NL Championship Series at 2-all.
