Big 12 presidents decide to pass on expansion

After three months of analyzing, vetting and interviewing possible new members, the Big 12 announced Monday it would not expand following a six-hour meeting with the conference’s university presidents and commissioner Bob Bowlsby.

Big Ten basketball makes itself at home on East Coast

All the league’s men’s basketball coaches and many of the best players gathered for the first Big Ten Media Day held on the East Coast. Even more significant: The conference tournament will take place in Washington from March 8-12.

Villanova selected Big East coaches’ preseason pick

The Wildcats were the overwhelming choice of the Big East coaches as the preseason No. 1. Xavier, which finished in last season’s final Top Ten , was second followed by Creighton, Georgetown, defending Big East Tournament champion Seton Hall, Butler, Marquette, St. John’s, Providence and DePaul.

NCAA has approved an experimental rule allowing the Big Ten and Mid-American conferences to use instant replay on certain plays within the restricted arc for the 2016-17 season. The rule will be the first that allows coaches to initiate instant replay in college basketball.
