Operations Control Centre

The state-of-the art Sydney Metro network will be controlled from a new high-tech facility at Tallawong Road at Rouse Hill.

Expert train controllers will constantly monitor the entire metro system, controlling the trains, tunnels, platforms and skytrain to deliver a safe and reliable journey. To deliver faster journeys, the system minimises the time trains are stopped at stations and the time between each train.

All Sydney Metro operations will be run from this state-of-the-art facility at Rouse Hill, including train stabling, maintenance and the Operations Control Centre.

Train maintenance

This incorporates latest technology for:

• Train washing
• Inspections and repairs
• Major train maintenance
• Wheel maintenance.

Trains are washed in an automated train wash a minimum of twice a week with up to 95 per cent of the water recycled. The facility is set to operate 24 hours per day, seven days a week. To minimise noise, train maintenance activities are carried out in an acoustic enclosure. No horns are to be tested at the site.

Train stabling

This is used outside peak periods and between the last service and the first service the next day. Trains will be shut down once the train has been stabled and cleaned.
