Make it ILLEGAL to pay terrorists with taxpayer dollars

By Judi McLeod

The only way to stop politicians such as Canada Prime Minister Justin Trudeau from making $10.5 million payouts to convicted terrorists like Omar Khadr, who killed one American soldier and maimed another, is legislation making the use of tax dollars for terrorist payouts, illegal.

Identity Crisis of American Left

By Joanna Rosamond

In psychology, the term Identity Crisis refers to a personal, psychosocial conflict involving confusion about one´s social role and personality. Not exclusive to teenagers, the internal strife can occur in adults and organizations.

President Trump- Definitely On the Road to Re-election

By Mitch Wolfe

For those poor souls who still believe that the Commies stole the election from poor Hillary- and

that Trump’s campaign team colluded with the big, bad Ruskies to take the election from the self-entitled, Hillary, then I have some bad news for you.

John McCain stabbed us in the back

By Herman Cain

Dan’s and Rob’s reactions to what Senator McCain did last week were not an overreaction. Why? Because the more I tried not to think about what he did in casting the deciding vote to keep ObamaCare, the angrier I got. Dan and Robert’s titles of their commentaries sum it up ...

Smearing Trump as ‘The Alien’ down Mexico Way

By Judi McLeod

‘President Donald Trump The Alien’, framed in a skeleton image on a billboard, towering above one of the busiest roads in Mexico City, sarcastically urges motorists to “Make America Great Again”.

Take a gander at ‘Donald Trump the Alien’ who looks like a more macabre ‘Donald Trump the bigot’,”racist”  and “misogynist”.

Baby Charlie Shows The System For The Monster It Really Is

By Judi McLeod

“The System” raised its brutal fist in the face of the world from Britain today.  It conceded, not in words, but in action how the parents of Charlie Gard had run out of time to secure outside help in trying to keep their baby alive.

NO TRESPASSING ON ISLAM!

By Dave Merrick

As some are speculating, I will also guess that Officer Mohamed Noor, after hearing what might have sounded like a shot, may have believed Justine Damon had a gun in her hand as she leaned toward the squad car in her pajamas. If that was the case, his allegedly firing the shots that killed the unarmed Australian woman was simply the worst of judgments in the presence of panic. In saying all that, I’m straining - times 10 - to give him some benefit of the doubt though obviously none is deserved.

Jihadi Johns crossing over to Jihadi Janes to escape Mosul

By Judi McLeod

The progressive lib-left’s growing obsession with coddling the transgendered is giving big ideas to ISIS terrorists.

The latest ‘minority’, granted sweeping special favors by uber politically correct governments, trannies are no longer just cropping up in school bathrooms and locker rooms, their props are now copied by terrorists on the run.

No Matter Who or Where You Are, Someone Waits for You

By Judi McLeod

Don’t wait until someone falls gravely ill to pray for them.  Pray every day for other people in the most sincere way of them all: prayers fervently offered on your knees in the privacy of silence, with no one but the Creator even knowing that you are at prayer.

Lloyd Marcus: Troubadour of Troubled Times

By Judi McLeod

In these most trying of days when the Democrats’ ‘Take-Out-Trump-Movement-On Steroids’ keeps coming at us, along comes Lloyd Marcus, blowing the blues away in a song.

Today’s Marcus column is like a refreshing breeze on a muggy day.

Pay attention citizens: We’re being screwed

Health, health care, and health insurance are not all the same, but they are all part of the mess we are in now.

The mess we are in now started with the Democrats in Congress and President Obama shoving ObamaCare down our throats.

From the Temple Mount to the Israeli Embassy in Jordan

The tension on the Temple Mount and the crisis between Israel and Jordan following the attack on a security guard at the Israeli embassy in Amman need more than ad hoc solutions that leave the basic situation – the catalyst underlying these events – unresolved, and the strategic opportunities in efforts to reach an agreement untapped.

Is Social Security a Viable Program or just another Ponzi Scheme?

Ida May Fuller, the first recipient of a Social Security benefit check in 1940, paid a total of $24.75 into the Social Security fund.  Her first monthly S/S check issued in 1940 was for $22.54, almost as much as she paid in.  Over the ensuing 35 years of her life, she collected a total of $22,888.  Her case is reminiscent of the early investors of a Ponzi scheme.  They get paid off from the investments of future dupes (or victims).

The Merit of the Meritocracy

In a stunning display of reverse discrimination Columbia University’s Teachers College organized a conference exploring the “problem of whiteness” and how to combat whiteness.

Summer of 1862: A New Birth of Freedom Conceived by Lincoln

Over one hundred and fifty years ago, in the heated summer of 1862, in the midst of the horrible American Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln conceived a rebirth of freedom that would alter the course of that war, which would ultimately alter the course of the United States, as well as the history of the world.

Rage Has Become All the Rage

Americans are angry these days. As I watch the news and listen to people, everyone seems to be on some crusade.  The polls show the rage.  There is a constant grind of self-righteous hate and finger-pointing. Almost everyone hates Congress and half the people hate the President, mostly because they are being told to do so.

Emails show Seattle’s coordination with activists in minimum wage research

Last month, researchers from the University of Washington informed the city of Seattle that despite the best efforts of the Service Employees International Union they had failed to repeal the law of supply and demand. Contrary to the promises of city government, the UW team—originally commissioned to study the effects of the measure by the city government—found that the union-backed minimum wage hike to $13/hour (en route to further increases to $15/hour) had reduced lower-wage employees’ earnings by $125 per month.

Biofuel justifications are illusory

The closest thing to earthly eternal life, President Ronald Reagan used to say, is a government program.

Those who benefit from a program actively and vocally defend it, often giving millions in campaign cash to politicians who help perpetuate it, while those who oppose the program or are harmed by it are usually disorganized and distracted by daily life.

Republicans say one thing, do another

I know a lot of Republican officeholders, and respect them a great deal. I am the last person who would try to tell you that Republicans in general don’t really want to govern, but prefer instead to sit back and take shots at Democrats while they govern.

DITCH MITCH

Yesterday morning, the rationale for why conservatives across the country should support Republican Party candidates and enable the GOP to control Congress was completely shattered. By losing a 49-51 vote, the Republican led U.S. Senate failed a pass a “skinny” repeal of Obamacare, condemning the nation to more suffering from the horrors of socialized medicine.

“It All Depends On Whose Ox Is Being Gored”

Here’s what the above idiom means. If something awful happens to someone you don’t know, or perhaps dislike, you are likely to ignore it in the first instance, or may even applaud it in the latter instance. If something awful happens to you or your loved ones, well, that’s a different story altogether. There will be no applause from you; there will be scorn and retribution if you can make that happen.

Lifestyles-- Health-- Tourism

Some As Grace; Some As Mercy

For my stepdaughter Jennifer and me, a stroll around town on Sunday mornings was a big event. Often she would spot coins, give them to me for safekeeping, and race ahead, pigtails swishing, searching the sidewalk.

American Civil War Museum and Historic Tredegar

Nestled on the bank of the James River in Richmond, Virginia, near the American Civil War Museum, the Tredegar Iron Works began operating in 1837. The name Tredegar honored engineers Rhys Davies and his crew who were recruited from the Tredegar Mills in Wales. The proximity to railroads and canal boats made this location ideal.

On this very hot and lazy Saturday afternoon, with temperatures upwards of 100 degrees Fahrenheit, locals were sunbathing on the beach nearby.

Ghost in the Shell a surprisingly watchable sci-fi Blu-ray disc

It may have started life as a Japanese comic book, but Paramount’s Ghost in the Shell is a compelling and eye-dazzling adventure that’s much better than I had expected going in.

The movie, debuting on 4K and conventional Blu-ray (our sample was the Blu-ray, darn it, which comes with a DVD and digital code in the package as well - and a 3D version is available, too) hearkens more than a little to Blade Runner, in its look and overall storyline, but more in an "inspired by" or "homage" manner than being a complete rip-off.  It made me curious to see how the Blade Runner sequel will turn out when it debuts later this year.

Speaking of a not-too-distant future, Ghost in the Shell is set in just such an environment. Look at the streets, with their obtrusive (but perfectly logical given the way our society is going) holographic ads all over the place - and the abundance of neon and other signage, and it looks exactly like a 21st century take on the 21st century envisioned by Ridley Scott and his collaborators back in the 1982 Blade Runner (though I don’t remember seeing flying cars in "Ghost"). There’s less rain in this vision of the future, it seems, but that’s okay because perhaps it means the seas didn’t really rise after the United States withdrew from the Paris Climate accord.

Consumers still love that new vehicle smell - and German quality smells the best

Ah, that new car smell! There’s nothing quite like it.

As a car nut, it’s one of the nicest aromas I can think of, and as someone who reviews cars regularly it’s a welcome odour I get to experience all the time. The only “new” smell that can match it is the spit up from a newborn family member - but, unlike a new family member, you don’t have to hose yourself down after experiencing new car smell.

Volkswagen Trendline

It is necessary to adapt your driving style when behind the wheel of a vehicle that does not have a rear view mirror.
