Motives matter. Some agendas are indeed driven by envy and rivalry, but others serve humanity with a desire to foster godly love and good will. (Ref. Philippians 1:15)

Yesterday, we celebrated MLK’s birthday. Several candidates announced a presidential bid yesterday. Most, if not all, of those candidates are pro-abortion. Today is my birthday.

As “boots on the ground” in Washington, DC for the 24th Annual National Memorial Prayer Service and the March for Life today, I’m also getting calls to defend Congressman Steve King for racist remarks.  Meanwhile, my family and I are in the heat and heart of the celebration of the 90th birthday of my uncle Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. And people are still fighting about the wall.

Some claim that building a wall is a “medieval solution” to a modern problem. The wheel is an ancient solution too. Nobody’s complaining about that. POTUS is on target. Walls do work; as in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah, walls are still viable solutions. Why now? Just days away are the March for Life and the Martin Luther King, Jr. Holiday, yet America is in crisis at the southern border.

With 2019 unfolding, we leave the roller coaster year of 2018 behind us. Now moving into 2019, we can expect more fireworks which will be accelerated in the Spirit.

As the holidays are upon us, let us be mindful that these next few weeks are beautiful opportunities to express love, grace, encouragement and peace towards others. There are some people, and in some cases someone we know, or even we ourselves are in dire need of a prayer or two this holiday season. Some have lost loved ones and some have lost much to tragedies. Yet there are reasons and opportunities to spread love to others right now. A notion such as this may seem difficult, especially with the brutal mid-terms behind us, and some political runoff elections ahead of us; but let’s just try to be civil toward one another.

In the aftermath of the mid-term elections, as the dust begins to settle, I keep wondering why Christians would “roll over and play dead” at the polls? Why would Christians “run for cover” rather than fight the good fight of faith at the polls? Why would we go undercover when someone punches us in the gut for standing up for the Bible’s truth?

With Halloween just a few hours away, it’s probably no coincidence that this demonic atmosphere is neatly tucked in between midterm election voting and Thanksgiving. Be on the alert because nothing is as harmless as it seems. The treat is a trick.

In the last several days, we’ve had so many things changing that we’re having to pray hard to keep up. Certainly, President Donald John Trump is moving forward with his agenda as he is keeping his promises to make America great again. With the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and approaching departure of UN Ambassador Nikky Haley, we can expect more transformation.

Since my recent visit to the White House on August 1, 2018, the heat has been turned up. Being a part of the group present for an update on President Trump’s prison reform agenda has caused a firestorm in many circles, to say the least

Currently, a photograph of a lovely Nigerian little girl is going viral. She’s likely as beautiful as the Queen of Sheba, Queen Esther, and Sara; all beautiful women in the Bible.

It seems as if overnight the world has been consumed with a new movement calling for an end to the separation of immigrant children from their mothers at the border, but have we forgotten our own children?

Fathers’ Day is Sunday, and I miss my dad Rev. AD King who taught me to love everyone. When my uncle Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated, in error, I tried to blame white people.  Daddy said, “No. We are all one race/one blood human beings. White people didn’t kill your uncle, the Devil did.”

In an effort to address racism, Starbucks is expanding to accommodate the least of these. Media funny woman Rosanne Barr is canned for exercising free speech and cussing during a frustrated racist rant. What in the world is going on? Is there a genuine Reconciled Church with a voice of reason?

On Monday we will celebrate Memorial Day thanking God for our active members of our military and our veterans and their families. As one who has had active members of the military in my own family, I know the personal care and the prayers that always go forth for our soldiers.

For some, the call to Motherhood is biological; adoption beckons others; and beyond these important roles, God calls some to be “spiritual” moms.  It is my prayer that we as human beings will set aside all political platforms this season, and just give thanks to God for the gift of mothers.

Today, April 4, 2018, marks the 50th anniversary of the legacy of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr. I, and other family members, and many friends are prayerfully joining his heirs, Martin III, Dexter, Bernice and granddaughter Yolanda Renee, as well as their spouses, as we all – including the president – commemorate the momentous day. Then, tomorrow we will join the U.S. Park Service in celebrating the newly proclaimed MLK National Historic Park.
