Some of the most helpful policy responses to the coronavirus pandemic have loosened rather than imposed restrictions. Many of the regulations that are being scrapped to fight COVID-19 were #NeverNeeded in the first place. The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) recently liberalized “accredited investor” regulations to allow some non-wealthy investors to buy shares in private stock offerings unburdened by the mandates of laws like Sarbanes-Oxley and Dodd-Frank.
