(CNSNew.com) - Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin (Ill.) sent out a tweet on Tuesday pleading with those seeing his message: “Save me. Save America.”

Durbin was asking people to support Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, the two Democratic candidates who will be in runoff elections in January for Georgia’s two Senate seats.

“Need some motivation?” asked Durbin in his tweet.

“Electing @ossoff & @ReverendWarnock in GA means President Biden has a Senate working with him, not against him to restore our great nation AND I DON’T HAVE TO LIVE IN MITCH MCCONNELL’S SENATE for two more years!” he said.

“Save me. Save America,” Durbin said at the conclusion of his tweet.

In Georgia, Senate candidates must win more than 50 percent of the vote to take the seat. If no one does, the top two candidates face off in a runoff. This year neither incumbent Sen. David Perdue (R.) or incumbent Sen. Kelly Loeffler (R.) won 50 percent of the vote.

As a result, both will face runoffs on January 5. Perdue will face Democrat Jon Ossoff and Loeffler will face Democrat Raphael Warnock.
