(CNSNews.com) – The American people “understand that the biggest mess that's ever happened in as short a period of time is when Joe Biden was sworn in as president,” former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee told Fox Business’s “Mornings with Maria Bartiromo” on Monday.

Huckabee commented on White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre trying to defend President Biden’s handling of the economy during an interview Sunday on ABC’s “This Week” as whether the president intends to run again in 2024.

“There's a saying, often wrong but never in doubt, and that is exactly the mindset of the Biden administration. They're often wrong, but they're never in doubt about how right they are about everything,” the former governor said.

“This was painful to watch, because you see with Karine Jean-Pierre, she always has this sense of authority like she's speaking with great sense of conviction, but she never says what's really happening, it's like she's oblivious to what's going on around her. The scene in Batman where the joker walks out and the hospital is blowing up behind him and he seems kind of like oh, well, big deal. That's kind of like Karine,” he said.

“This was surreal to watch. But here's the fact.  Biden has broken the border. The Middle East is a mess. It was in great shape. We've had a botched exit from Afghanistan. Energy prices have doubled. Inflation is making it hard for Americans to put groceries on the table. America is in deep trouble,” Huckabee said.

“We're divided even though Biden promised to bring us together in unity and she's talking about what a great job he's doing. She’s saying the American people understand it. Oh yeah, they understand it alright. They understand that the biggest mess that's ever happened in as short a period of time is when Joe Biden was sworn in as president,” he said.

Huckabee also criticized the White House for pushing the Inflation Reduction Act as something that will lower inflation, when the opposite is true.

“You know, it was one thing when I was 3 years old and my parents would tell me, because I said so, and I was supposed to accept it. I'm not 3 years old anymore, and the rest of the American public isn't either and we don't like being talked to as if we're 3. We're pretty smart people. We got where we are by making pretty good decisions,” he said.

“And when they tell us that the border's fine, we don't need anymore agents down there but by golly we need to hire 87,000 irs agents who are really only going to go after the billionaires, what is that? 50,000 agents per billionaire? I mean, this is absurd.  We're supposed to believe it,” the former governor said.

“I thought it was interesting in that same interview. John Karl pushed back on her when she tried to present this will help inflation. He said even the CBO said it won't. Isn't this a bit Orwellian. I was so glad he used that term. I feel like I'm living in a George Orwell novel almost every day in the Biden administration,” Huckabee added.
