About Tantra.com

Tantra.com got its start in November of 1995. The Web was new to all but a few people in those days. It's gone through many manifestations, just as life says all things must, and will continue to do so. Here's a brief history of how and why we came to be:

Many years ago our film making expertise and our love of the erotic brought us (Suzie Heumann and Michael Heumann) together with Charles and Caroline Muir. The Muirs had become interested in producing a film about Tantra and to begin the process, Caroline wanted a short film on some of the things she felt were important for budding Tantrikas to see but that she didn't always want to demonstrate (female ejaculation on command!) After attending several of their exquisite workshops we undertook the filming. It was a profound experience for both of us and for Suzie it was literally life changing.

From our beginings with the Muirs we went on to meet most of the well known Western Tantra teachers. We studied with them and offered our services in any manner that seemed needed. Over the years we have had many profound experiences exploring Tantra, including a powerful Kundalini experience for Suzie at Margot Anand's birthday celebration on Maui. Four years ago we began the proccess of creating our own film on Tantra and the fruits of that labor of love became "Ancient Secrets of Sexual Ecstasy".

As Michael's interest in the Web began to blossom we decided to try our hand at our own marketing and so Tantra.com was started. Originally seen as a vehicle for our film, we quickly realized the power of the Internet and knew we had to do much more with the Web site. The aim became getting this life changing information out to the world. Tantra.com also became a vehicle for the many sincere and dedicated individuals who believe in the connection between sacredness and sexuality. Almost exclusively the products in the Catalog are produced by Tantrikas. The videos, books, music, audiotapes and sensual products come from small companies with community, empowerment and caring on their minds and at the heart of their business practices. The articles, practices, pictures and general content of Tantra.com often come to us from people donating their resources and time. We thank them all! And in return the staff here tries to do the best we can to get that information to you.

Among the many projects ahead are several films with Margot Anand and Skydancing Tantra. Tantra.com and Skydancing Tantra have been exploring ways in which they might forge alliances and work together. In addition, Tantra-the Magazine has a new Web site and we can all look forward in the coming months to some of their exquisite artwork, articles and features. We're very excited that they will again be a part of this ever expanding community.
