When David Taylor was unable to accept the U.S.A. nomination to the World CC Championship semi-finals, Erik Osbun took his place. The USCCC is a path for U. S. players to the World CC Championship. Erik and Louis Owen are also playing for the U.S.A. in the North Atlantic Team Tournament.

David Taylor donated his cash prize to ICCF-U.S. to assist United States chess.

Added Note (20 July 2003): "The original finals section started in late May 1987 with 13 players. Dandridge replaced Baker [7P004 qualifier Bruce W. Baker] in late September 1987 and both Callaway and Shannon were added in October." -- N. Eric Pedersen
